"Toddler John Doe" - 3 yo/ Accused: Samuel C Flores - Roseville CA

ROSEVILLE, CA - A 3-year-old Roseville boy is in a Sacramento
hospital with scalding burns on his back and Roseville police think the
child's babysitter is responsible.


The live-in sitter, Samuel Charles Flores, 23, was arrested
and booked into Placer County Jail on suspicion of child abuse and
causing traumatic injury to a child, said police spokeswoman Officer Dee
Dee Gunther.

Police officers and Roseville Fire Department paramedics
were dispatched to a home in the South Cirby Way and Wildwood Way area
at 4 Wednesday afternoon in response to a medical emergency. There they
found the boy with "suspicious" injuries on his back, Gunther said.

Officers investigated and believe Flores, who was caring
for the boy, was drunk and poured hot water on the 3 year old to
discipline him, said Gunther.

Bail was set at $50,000 for Flores.

"I just wanted to strangle the guy, and he walked around you know. He was so calm."
Raw reaction from neighbor Tina Marshall, after she saw stunning injuries
to a 3-year-old boy, who police say, was in the care of his 23-year-old
babysitter, Samuel Charles Flores.
"His eyes were open. They were glazed over. He was foaming at the mouth," Marshall said.
Police say Flores was drunk when he poured scalding water on the boy to discipline the toddler.
"It was discipline that rose to the level of child abuse that should
not have been done." Roseville police Sgt. Cal Walstad said.
"He was burnt from the top of his neck all the way down to his butt. The
burns were so severe that the skin was pulled away from his back," Marshall said.
Investigators say the parents were at work when their son was hurt.
"The mother was screaming my baby. My baby. She was pounding the
ground. I kept trying to get her to calm down. Of course, you're not
going to calm a mom down when you're baby's like that," Marshall said.
She said Flores gave her a lame excuse for the little boy's injuries.
"He said I was running a bath for him and he fell in the bathtub. I said
this is not from a bathtub," Marshall said. "He acted weird. I knew that
there was something that he wasn't saying."
