JACOB HEDGER - 9 Months/ Accused: Under Investigation - Edmond OK

EDMOND, Okla. -- The death of
an Oklahoma child, just 9 months old, has many people asking questions.
The medical examiner says the little boy, Jacob Hedger, died of blunt
force trauma, but who killed him is still a mystery.

The child's family is not only struggling with his death but also with how he died as investigators work to solve his murder.
"After
seven months, we're just out of patience and expecting the system to
work and for the person responsible for this to be arrested, and
nothing's happening," his aunt, Tammy Padgett said.
Jacob Hedger was nine months old when he died.
An autopsy report says blunt force trauma killed him, but who inflicted that force is still unknown.
"We don't know what happened to Jake," Padgett said.
According to family members the boy's parents dropped him off at his babysitter's house on the morning of March 8, 2011.
"Around
three o'clock that afternoon we found out through the grapevine that he
had been transported to the hospital and found not breathing from his
nap," Padgett said. "When we got to the hospital that's when we were
told that he had a skull fracture, and he died the next day."
Jacob Hedger's autopsy report shows several injuries including a skull fracture and an arm fracture.
A DHS
report states his parents and his babysitter say two weeks before his
death he had a large bruise on the back of his head and two months
before his death had an arm fracture, but they all deny knowing what
caused those injuries.
"We want to see someone take responsibility
for what happened to him or for someone to be held accountable,"
Padgett said. "The information from the autopsy reveals that Jacob
Hedger had fractures and injuries that were inflicted in excess of 48
hours prior to his death," said attorney Gary James, who represents the
babysitter.
"Jacob Hedger was not within the care of my clients
during that time frame."Meanwhile, the boy's family is left with grief
and uncertainty."We don't know what happened. We just need some answers,
and we need some closure," Padgett said.
Jacob Hedger's death is under investigation, and no one has been arrested.
Edmond
police would not comment on the case but did tell us Jacob Hedger's
parents are not cooperating and refuse interviews and polygraph tests.
The boy's family says that is not true and say they have done everything asked of them.
