Authorities are searching for a 16-year-old girl who is missing and in need of medication.

Shelbie Renee Valles was reported missing after her father learned
that she had gotten in trouble for missing class at Foothill High School
on Thursday and returned home to find a note from her stating that she
needed time to "think things out," according to the Orange County
Sheriff's Department.




While the note indicated that she would return home by 6 p.m., Valles
has not been seen since, Sheriff's Department officials said.

Authorities say Valles suffers from mental health issues and is in
need of medication. They described her as a Caucasian girl, about
5-foot-5, 125 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair.

Sheriff's officials are asking anyone with information about Valles whereabouts to call 714-647-7000.

High school girl missing since Thursday

NORTH TUSTIN – A Foothill High School student who went missing on Thursday still has not been located.

Shelbie Renee Valles, 16, left a note for family members saying she
was taking a walk and needed time to "think things out," officials
stated. The girl's note said she would be home by 6 p.m., but she hasn't
been seen since.

The girl's father, Jason Valles, said family members have handed out
about 1,400 fliers in Tustin, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach and
Irvine. Valles also has set up an email, findshelbievalles2011@hotmail.com.

Shelbie was wearing a gray-blue Hollister hooded sweatshirt, gray
running pants with dark blue or gray stripes down the sides, and white
tennis shoes, Valles said.

"She's a relatively happy, normal teenager," Valles said.

Valles described his daughter as a loving girl who enjoys drawing,
painting, and playing with her cousins, who are younger than her. He
said she's funny, has a great sense of humor, and is family-oriented.

Most of the family is in Orange County or Lake Elsinore and Murrieta in Riverside County, Valles said.

She was at Foothill High School on Thursday. School officials had
told Valles earlier in the day that Shelbie was in trouble for missing a
class, authorities said.

She walked to her North Tustin home from school to write a note
letting her family know she was going for a walk and would be back soon,
Valles said. He had gotten home at 4 p.m., but Shelbie was not home by 6p.m.

"She has not run away before," Valles said. "This is totally out of character."

Sheriff's officials said Shelbie was at the Tustin Library, 345 Main
St., and used a social networking site to arrange to meet a teen boy at a
park before 6 p.m. but she never arrived at the park. Officials said
she did not have a cell phone.

Authorities say Valles suffers from mental health issues and is in

TUSTIN – A teenager who had been missing throughout the weekend – prompting her family to pass out hundreds of fliers – has been found safe, authorities said.

The 16-year-old girl left a note for family members Thursday, officials said, stating she needed to "think things out," and would be home by 6 p.m.
Investigators found Shelbie Renee Valles on Sunday night sleeping under a stairwell in Santa Ana, said Jim Amormino, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Department.


Valles was found, "safe, unharmed and in good health," said Lt. Roland Chacon.

Officials said Valles had accessed a social networking site at the Tustin Library on Friday to arrange a meeting with a teenage boy at 6 p.m. but failed to show up.

Investigators continued to search for her over the weekend, Amormino said, and several leads through Facebook led authorities to her at 10:15 p.m. Sunday.

She has been reunited with her family.
