SPARTANBURG, SC --
Spartanburg Dispatch says the Sheriff's office has dogs out
searching for a one-year-old child that has been missing since 1:30PM
Friday.
The Sheriff's Office says Spartanburg County Communications Center
received a call about a missing child in the Cross Anchor area of
Spartanburg County.
They say they were told the child had opened a door off of the kitchen of the residence and wandered away.
The family says the child's name is Jason Elijah Burton.
The Burton is described as a 21 month old white male, 20 lbs., blonde
hair, brown eyes, wearing a white in color long sleeve pajama top and
yellow in color Sponge Bob shorts.
The Sheriff’s Office has deputies in the area that are searching for the child.
This includes a K-9 tracking team as well as the Sheriff’s Office
helicopter. Officers from the South Carolina Department of Natural
Resources and local Fire Departments are assisting in the search as
well.
A “Reverse 911 Notification” of residences in the area took place. If
anyone happens to see a child matching this description in the Cross
Anchor area of East Blackstock Road and South Carolina Highway 56 you
are asked to call 911 immediately.
Concerned citizens are asked not come into the search area at this
time to avoid contaminating any scent trails the child has left and also
hindering the use of heat seeking equipment onboard the Sheriff’s
Office helicopter.
Officials have searched all night, but say there is still no sign of the boy as of Saturday morning.

Search continues for missing 21-month-old boy in Cross AnchorEmergency responders combed a heavily wooded area in Cross Anchor
throughout the night, but still haven't found a 21-month-old boy who
family members say wandered from a home on East Blackstock Road on
Friday afternoon.
Jason Elijah Burton is described as a white male, weighing about 20
pounds, with blonde hair, brown eyes and wearing a white long sleeve
pajama top and yellow Sponge Bob SquarePants shorts, according to a
written statement from the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies
responded to his home at 250 E. Blackstock Road at about 1:30 p.m.
Friday and were told the child apparently got out the back door.
Dozens
of officers, firefighters and other emergency personnel searched
through the night, using tracking dogs and a helicopter with
heat-sensing equipment.
More trained searchers assembled at the
scene this morning, but the sheriff's office is continuing to ask
concerned citizens to stay out of the area, saying the want to limit the
search to trained professionals

Wow! What a miracle...snipped from article above:
"Then around 2:30 p.m. Saturday deputies announced they had found the boy alive.Rescue crews found the boy about two miles from his home, laying on a sandbar in the middle of the Tyger River."
It is truly a miracle the baby didn't drown. Thank goodness he's OK. I bet they put some extra locks on those doors.
