Police have arrested a Long Island man for killing a young mother and her 2-year-old son.

Jerry Lewis,24, who lived with the victims in North Bay Shore, was arrested in
Laurel, Maryland, on Christmas Day, Suffolk County cops said.

He will be extradited to Suffolk County to face murder charges.

Shakeela Planter, 21, a dietician at Huntington Hospital, was found
dead in her basement apartment bedroom by her landlord Friday.

Planter had been living there about six months.

“They had some type of relationship,” a police source said of Planter and her alleged killer.

Cops called to the scene Friday found the body of Planter’s child, Jaiden Planter, in another room.

Investigators are unsure when the mother and son were killed. Planter
hadn’t been seen for several days, prompting her landlord to check in on her Friday.

An autopsy will determine the cause of death.
