LAS CRUCES, N.M. —
A
Las Cruces grandmother told KFOX14 that she believes that someone is
tearing down missing person signs of her granddaughter and is falsely
telling store owners that the child has been found.
"We're still looking for my babies," Angela Regalado said.
Regalado's 1-year-old granddaughter, Nevaeh Jauregui, has been missing since Dec 26.
Regalado
said that her family hands out missing person signs every weekend and
always gets permission from store owners to hang them, but they've now
learned that someone has been tearing those signs down, and worse than
that, she said that she's told someone is telling store owners that the
baby is no longer missing.
"We have put a lot of fliers out and little by little they're disappearing," Regalado said. "Why? I don't know."
Regalado
said that she doesn't know whether the culprit is someone who wants
people to stop looking or whether it's being done out of cruelty.
Regalado said that she wants the public to know the search is still on.
The 1-year-old was living with Regalado after she was taken away from
her mother, Nicole Jauregui, 19, and her boyfriend, Jose Mendez, 20. The
two have outstanding warrants for child abuse after Nevaeh tested
positive for drugs.
Regalado said that she hasn't heard from her daughter at all since she last saw her Christmas night.
"I still call everyday," Regalado said. "I text her. I call her and no response. I miss both of them."
Regalado said that she doesn't know whether Nicole went willingly or where she is now.
"I fear that she wants to come home but she can't or they're not letting her," Regalado said.
Las
Cruces police are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to
Nevaeh or Nicole Jauregui or Jose Mendez. You can call Crime Stoppers at
1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip by text message to LCTIPS (528477).

Re: NEVAEH JAUREGUI - 1yo - El Paso TX
A 1-year-old girl who has been missing for almost two months is back home with her grandmother, and her mother is behind bars.
Angela
Regalado told KFOX14 that she got the phone call she had been waiting
for since the day after Christmas Saturday morning.
A Las Cruces
detective called to tell her her they found her missing granddaughter,
1-year-old Nevaeh Jauregui, and they were bringing her home.
"I'm so excited," Regalado said. "She reached for me and she gave me a hug and patted me like she always does."
El
Paso police said they found Nevaeh with her mother, Nicole Jauregui,
21, and her mother's boyfriend, Jose Mendez, 21, when they were crossing
into El Paso from Juarez.
According to authorities, the couple
had outstanding warrants for child abuse charges after Nevaeh tested
positive for drugs in December, and was placed into the custody of her
grandmother.
Regalado said that she always suspected they could
have been in Juarez because Mendez has family living there, but hadn't
heard from her daughter since they went missing so never knew for sure.
Regalado
said that she she hasn't yet spoken to her daughter and doesn't know
whether she was truly a willing participant, but she said she's relieved
to have an answer to where her daughter is now.
"At least I know where she's at, so that kind of calms me down, so I know where she's going to be right now," Regalado said.
Nicole Jauregui and Mendez are both being held at the El Paso jail.

Re: NEVAEH JAUREGUI - 1yo - El Paso TX
LAS CRUCES — It was a busy weekend for 1-year-old Nevaeh Jauregui, playing with her cousins and leading her grandmother on chases around the house.
It's a far cry from how Nevaeh spent the past several weeks as the subject of a a widespread search after her mother and her mother's boyfriend apparently took her into Mexico after the couple were charged with child abuse.
Nevaeh tested positive for drugs and a warrant was issued in Las Cruces for her mother, Nicole Jauregui, 19, and her boyfriend, Jose Mendez, 20 on child abuse charges. The couple reportedly took Nevaeh and were last seen in Las Cruces on Dec. 26.
Saturday, her grandmother, Angela Regelado, received a call she'd been wishing for since the day after Christmas, saying her granddaughter was safe and sound, although Jauregui and Mendez were jailed. The trio was apparently caught crossing back into El Paso from Juárez, where Mendez has family.
"Nevaeh is fine," Regelado said Monday. "She's great — full of energy as usual."
No worse for wear, Nevaeh spent the weekend surrounded by a "whole bunch of relatives," Regelado said. "The cousins played with her up and down until she tired herself out. She's real good, thank God."
Jauregui and Mendez remain in custody in El Paso, awaiting extradition to Las Cruces to face charges, said Las Cruces Police Department spokesman Dan Trujillo.
While Jauregui and Mendez face an uncertain future and possible additional charges after the nearly two-month absence, Nevaeh and her family are focusing on the present.
"It's been a long month-and-a-half or -two, very stressful," Regelado said. "I'm very glad it's over with. I just have to be thankful, and thank everyone for the prayers. Thank you to all. I'm just very thankful that she was found.
"She's here. She's safe."
