4 yo Girl almost killed by "falling TV" - Wichita KS
WICHITA, KS. - A four-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital after a television fell on her late Tuesday night.
It happened at a home in the 49-hundred block of South Cedardale in the Oaklawn area.
Her parents were home at the time and officials say the television was in the girl's bedroom.
When EMS crews arrived, the girl had severe head injuries. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
"If there's something to learn, it's to secure a large tv if you're going to have small children around it because those TV's can weigh upwards of 300 pounds and that falling on a small child is obviously going to be very detrimental to their health", said Lieutenant Jason Gill of the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office.
Officials from the Exploited and Missing Children's Unit are investigating because a child was injured.

Poster's Note: I am just a bit suspicious when I read reports like this. That must have been a pretty big TV and it must have been on top of a bureau or dresser to cause this serious of an injury.

This is how many abuse cases start out..... the abuser states that a TV fell on the baby. How in the world does a 300 lb. TV even move? Let's see how this unfolds.

A child remains hospitalized after a home accident near Oaklawn.
It happened in the 4900 block of S. Cedardale around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Dispatchers said the 4-year-old
girl was injured after a television fell on top of her. Police said the
girl's parents were in another room when they heard a crash. A large
television that had been on top of a dresser fell on the girl.
Investigators with the Exploited and Missing Children's Unit said it appears
the child had been climbing on the dresser.
The child was taken to Wesley Medical Center with
serious head injuries. Officials said she remains listed in critical, but stable condition.
The EMCU was called to investigate because of the child’s condition but believe it was an accident.
"We believe it was an accident where the child
somehow was messing around. In her bedroom was a large older model 27"
television. The estimated weight between 70 and 80 pounds," said Sgt. Kevin Bradford with EMCU.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission reported more
than 22,000 children in the United States are injured every year when
televisions or furniture fall on top of them.
