The death of an infant just days before her third birthday, leads to a police investigation that crosses international borders.

Yeli Madalyn Jimenez was brought to the emergency room of Good Shepherd Hospital in Marshall by her mother, Felipa Dominguez, early Sunday morning.

The mother told the emergency room staff that the child had fallen from a bed at her home on Liberty Church Road in Marshall and when she went to check on her, the child was unconscious on the floor.

Medical staff at Good Shepherd Medical Center pronounced the child deceased after attempting to revive her.

Results of an autopsy indicate that the child died from massive blunt force trauma.

During the investigation, family members told investigators that the mother's boyfriend, Jose Luis Casiano-Aburto, had allegedly struck the child in the abdomen and had previously assaulted the mother.

They later learned that Aburto had slipped across the border back into Mexico sometime Monday afternoon.

An arrest warrant on a charge of capital mruder has been issued for Aburto.

The United States Marshals, United States Border Patrol Agents, Homeland Security and Mexican authorities have offered assistance to find the suspect and return him to the United States.
