"Newborn Jane Doe" - 6 Months/ Accused: Bradley Cottier -Mount Morris/Flint MI

A Mount Morris Township man has been charged with child abuse related to injuries he caused to his girlfriend's 6-month old baby, according to authorities.
Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton has charged Bradley Merrel Cottier, 26, with first degree child abuse, a 15-year felony, for allegedly beating his girlfriend's daughter at their Mount Morris Township residence and causing numerous bruises and fractures to the baby.
"We have seen an epidemic of child abuse cases here in Genesee County, mostly involving individuals ill-equipped with the ability to take on parental responsibilities," said Leyton in a news release.
Leyton says Cottier is not the father of the child in this case, but they all lived together and he was often left to attend to the baby while his girlfriend was away.
Cottier faces a pre-trial court appearance on Friday.
