BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - A Washington County District Court judge on
Tuesday appointed attorneys for three Dewey residents charged in the
homicide death of a toddler in January.
Appointed for Marcus Trinidad Mitchell, 22, charged with first-degree murder
involving the death of a child, was attorney Mark Kane. Ashley Ann
Williamson, 23, the toddler girl's mother, now charged with two counts
of child neglect and one count of enabling child abuse by injury,
received Jim Conatser as her attorney.
The judge appointed Kristi Sanders for Mitchell's mother, 48-year-old
Juanchelle Lanyal Fitch, charged with accessory to first-degree murder
after the fact and child neglect.
Mitchell and Williams, currently held at the Washington County jail on $500,000
bonds, and Fitch, on a $250,000 bond, are due back in court on Friday.
All three were arrested March 9 after the results of a joint investigation
by Dewey police and the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation into the death
of 15-month-old Emma Beth Warmberodt implicated them as suspects.
According to records filed at the Washington County Courthouse, the investigation
began Feb. 24 when Dewey police and other first responders responding
to a call of a unresponsive child found Warmberodt dead at a residence
on the 300 block of Cherokee.
Reportedly, they found the child with bruises to her head and chest as well as
blood in her mouth and nose. They also found she may have been dead for
some time as her body was already stiffening.
Later in an autopsy report released on the child, the medical examiner told
investigators the child had died “as a result of blunt trauma.”
During interviews with police, Mitchell reportedly admitted to having struck
Emma on the back due to her choking on cereal. He also said he saw blood
on her face before putting her to bed before going to work.
During later interviews, both Williamson and Fitch reportedly admitted to
having seen signs of abuse but having done nothing to stop it.

Yeah, those pats on the back always kill babies. As do falls and dropping babies.
I'm so glad the POS mother and grandmother were also charged. This needs to happen more often.

The three individuals charged in the
death of 15-month-old Emma Beth Warmberodt now have a preliminary
hearing date. Marcus Trinidad Mitchell, Ashley Williamson Mitchell and
Juanchellee Fitch made a brief court appearance on Friday and were
scheduled for a June 19 preliminary hearing before Judge John Gerkin.
The investigation into the child's death
started February 24 when Dewey police and ambulance personnel found
Warmberodt dead at a residence in the 300 block of Cherokee. Marcus
Mitchell admits to striking the child on the back after he says she
choked on food. He reportedly told police he wiped blood off of the
young girl's mouth before putting her to bed. He is charged with first
degree murder involving the death of a child. Ashley Mitchell faces two
counts of child abuse and a single count of enabling child abuse by
injury. Fitch faces single charges of being an accessory after the fact

The trial for Marcus Mitchell, Ashley Williamson MItchell and Juanchellee Fitch will be held in the Washington County court house in Bartlesville, OK on January 28, 2013. Additional charges relating to drugs were added to the initial charges of March 2012. I am hoping to attend at least a portion of this trial.

At least some justice is done. She should have gotten the death penalty. That little girl is gone forever, so should they all be. William

This is good.
More of these mothers who allow men to torture and murder their babies should be charged. I can't figure out why they are not.
