Casey Anthony: ‘Frontline’ turns to case in ‘The Real CSI’

Jose Baez and Jeff Ashton have made the final cut of an upcoming ”Frontline,” a show spokeswoman said.

The opposing attorneys in the Casey Anthony case are interviewed in the hour PBS program titled “The Real CSI.” It will premiere at 10 p.m. April 17 on WUCF TV.

The title pays tribute to the popular CBS drama, and “Frontline” asks about the reliability of the science behind forensics.

“Frontline” said its “investigation finds serious flaws in some of the best-known tools of forensic science and wide inconsistencies in how forensic evidence is presented in the courtroom. From the sensational murder trial of Casey Anthony and the FBI’s botched investigation of the Madrid terrorist bombing to capital cases in rural Mississippi, ‘Frontline’ documents how a field with few uniform standards and unproven science can undermine the search for justice.”

Baez represented Anthony, who was acquitted of murder in the 2008 death of her daughter, Caylee. Former prosecutor Ashton, who wrote the best-selling “Imperfect Justice,” is running for Orange-Osceola state attorney.
