OAKLAND -- Two days after an 11-year-old boy slipped out of his West Oakland group home, police continue to search for him, Oakland police said Friday.
Sgt. Chris Bolton, chief of staff to Police Chief Howard Jordan, said the boy remains missing and the public's help is needed in finding Jerry Walker. He was last seen about 6:45 p.m., Wednesday by staff members at Greater New Beginnings Group Home at 1625 Filbert St. in West Oakland.
Jerry is a student at Lacheim School in Richmond but had not shown up for school Thursday or Friday, Bolton said. Information about why he lives in a group home was not released.
He is considered a "missing person at risk" because of his age, authorities said.
Police described Jerry as a black child, about 4 feet 9 inches tall and weighing roughly 90 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Anyone with information about the boy's whereabouts can call the Oakland Police Department Youth and Family Service Division at 510-238-3641.

Update: “likely” sighting of missing Jerry Walker in California
By Mike Glodo
Senior Staff Writer, MPN
Updated 2:00pm CST, June 18, 2012
(MPN) – Jerry Walker, the 11-year-old who went missing on May 9th
of this year, “has likely been sighted in Oakland and Hayward,
California,” according to a Law Enforcement official on the case who
spoke with MPN this morning. The official stressed that Jerry Walker’s
case is very much an “open and active investigation”.
Jerry Walker was last seen around 6:45pm on the 9th at Greater New
Beginnings Group Home, 1625 Filbert Street, in Oakland, CA. Details of
why Jerry was living there have not been released due to privacy
issues; however, due to his age, he is considered “a missing person at
risk.”
Jerry is African-American, 4’9″ tall, weighing approximately 90 pounds.
He has black hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black
sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Several advocates have expressed frustration recently at the lack of
activity surrounding Jerry’s case. It appears that he has been entered
into the NCIC Crime Database, but not into the NCMEC’s missing
children’s database or into NamUS. The Law Enforcement official we
spoke with earlier today indicated he would approve any request for
Walker to be entered into the appropriate missing persons’ databases.
Anyone with information regarding Jerry Walker’s whereabouts should
immediately call 911 or contact the Oakland Police Department Youth and
Family Services Division at (510) 238-3641.

Missing Jerry Walker located safe
MPN Staff Report
Updated 1:45pm July 24, 2012
(MPN) – An 11-year-old boy missing since May 9th has been located safe.
Officer Meckson of the Oakland, California, Police Department has confirmed to MPN that “Jerry was found safe in early July”.
Controversy swarmed over Walker’s disappearance in recent weeks, as many advocates publicly voiced concerns that police agencies were not adequately investigating his disappearance. A petition was started to require Police Chief Howard Jordan to add Walker to the NCMEC database. However, as often occurs in cases with minors and/or privacy issues, Jerry Walker had already been located by the time the petition was started.
