The Pierce County prosecutor's office said 28-year-old Aleesha Walker would make her first court appearance Monday afternoon.
The prosecutor's office says Walker reported hearing voices and acted as directed by the voices. She said she struck the 2-year-old's head on a dresser and smothered him.
Arriving officers found the body. He was declared dead and Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma.

Re: NOAH WALKER - 2 yo - Accused: Mother- Aleesha Walker - Tacoma WA
Aleesha Walker told her father she’d been hearing voices.
Clarence
Walker said he’d even heard a change in her voice. Normally an
emotional, expressive woman, Aleesha Walker sounded more flat lately, as
if in a trance. He asked if the voices were telling her to hurt herself
or anyone else.
The 28-year-old woman said no and repeatedly assured her father that she and her son, Noah Sanford, were OK.
Their last exchange was Thursday night.
By Friday morning, less than three weeks after his mother had thrown a party to celebrate his second birthday, Noah was dead.
Pierce
County prosecutors allege that Aleesha Walker called 911 from her
Tacoma apartment and told a dispatcher she’d killed Noah. She said the
voices, in part, told her to do it, according to court papers.
“God
knows what I did,” Aleesha Walker reportedly told the Tacoma police
officers who came to her apartment and found Noah’s lifeless body. “I’m
bad for doing what I did.”
On Monday, prosecutors charged Aleesha
Walker with first-degree murder. During an afternoon court hearing,
Pierce County Superior Court Commissioner ordered the mother to undergo a
mental health evaluation before she enters a plea.
Aleesha Walker, who didn’t speak during Monday’s brief appearance, was ordered held in jail without bail.
Supporters,
friends and relatives packed the courtroom. Several cried as they read
the charging documents spelling out the allegations against Aleesha
Walker.
Afterward, Clarence Walker said he was devastated.
“There was no warning signs that I was aware of that my grandson was in danger,” he said.
The Pasco resident described his grandson as an energetic little boy. His nickname was “Tink Tink.”
“He was a ball of fire,” the teary grandfather said. “I miss him.”
Aleesha
Walker, who grew up in Tacoma, graduated from Everest College and was a
certified medical assistant. She was a protective mother, Clarence
Walker said.
But something had changed recently. Aleesha Walker
told her dad about hearing voices, that her house was bugged. She made
references to the FBI.
“But she said she was OK,” Clarence Walker said.
On
Wednesday, Noah was seen at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital for an
unknown medical issue, court documents state. But he wasn’t injured or
ill. Social workers noted the “mother’s mental state was the sole
concern,” court documents state.
Aleesha Walker called 911 just
after 7 a.m. Friday. She told a 911 operator that she’d hit Noah’s head
on a dresser and made references to smothering him, court documents
state.
Tacoma police officers found Noah’s naked, lifeless body
inside Walker’s apartment in the 3600 block of South Thompson Avenue. He
had dried blood spots on his face.
Walker had dried blood on her hands and knees.
Paramedics took Noah to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A neighbor told officers he woke up about 6 a.m. after hearing a thud on the floor of Walker’s apartment.
An
autopsy revealed that Noah’s head and face injuries were not fatal. The
medical examiner believes “the likely cause of death was smothering,”
the Prosecutor’s Office reported.
Child Protective Services had
received four referrals regarding Aleesha Walker and Noah in 2010 and
2011. None indicated that Noah had been injured, agency spokeswoman
Sherry Hill said Monday.
“Overall, they were referrals about
neglect of Noah, of dirty conditions in the house, possible drug use and
hygiene of the boy and domestic violence between the parents,” Hill
said. “Every time we checked it out he seemed clean, the house was
cleaned up. He seemed OK.”
Hill said there was one referral in
2010 and three in 2011. The 2010 referral was resolved after an early
family support services worker went to visit Aleesha Walker and offered
her services.
The three 2011 referrals were closed with unfounded conclusions.
The last CPS contact with Walker was in June. The agency had been called regarding poor hygiene for Noah.
“We followed up with her and the baby seemed OK,” Hill said.
Aleesha
Walker and her son were living with extended family at the time. She
had previously filed for a domestic violence protection order against
Noah’s father. “There were no marks or bruises,” Hill said of Noah’s
appearance. “Their interaction was quite appropriate.”
The state
agency will conduct a child fatality review, which is standard practice
when a child dies within a year of receiving services from CPS.
Clarence Walker said he, too, is searching for answers.
“Something is not right,” he said. “I am devastated but I am here for my daughter.”

The mother of a two-year-old boy reportedly called 911 to tell police that she had killed the toddler.
Aleesha
Walker, 28, phoned Tacoma Police Department in Washington at 7 a.m. on
Friday to say she had killed her son Noah, police said.
Officers
and medics rushed to her home - a second floor apartment where she lived
with Noah - where they found the boy, and took him to hospital.

He was pronounced dead at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital.
It is not yet clear what injuries he sustained or how his mother
allegedly killed him.
Walker, who does not have any other
children, was questioned by police and arrested. She is being held in
Pierce County Jail without bail.
She has a history of criminal misdemeanour offenses, including fourth-degree assault and solicitation for prostitution, KIRO reported.
But neighbours expressed their shock at the apparent murder, claiming the mother-of-one appeared 'normal'.
'She seemed fine to me - like a normal person,' said neighbour Lisa Portillo, who said she often saw Noah playing in the yard.

Concerns:
Neighbours said they were stunned as Walker seemed 'normal', but
Facebook posts show the 28-year-old was stressed and searching for a job
'I couldn't imagine her doing anything to hurt her child.' she added.
Yet another neighbour, Deborah Dahl, told the news station she reported
Walker to Child Protective Services just after Noah was born.
'CPS was well aware of the risk and didn't do anything and now we have a little innocent baby that died today,' Dahl said.
'[I'm] devastated that the state has failed another child.'
CPS was unable to comment on an investigation into Walker, but said
allegations of abuse or neglect were not founded, KIRO reported.
Walker's Facebook profile says she is a certified medical assistant, but in a post in February she wrote that she needed a job.

She also posted about money worries, calling herself 'broke' and writing that she needed a roommate.

Walker will appear in court on Monday.

Aleesha Walker is seen in court on Monday, April 2, 2012.
TACOMA, Wash. -- The woman who admitted to having killed her 2-year-old son has been ordered to undergo
an evaluation to determine whether she is competent to stand trial.
Aleesha Walker, 28, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of
Noah Walker. An autopsy revealed the boy's cause of death was likely smothering.
911 tapes released Monday revealed Walker called police early Friday and said she had killed her child.
"I murdered him. I hit his head on the dresser," Walker is heard telling the dispatcher. "I purposely tried to kill him."
When the dispatcher asked if the boy was breathing, Walker replied, "No, he's dead."
Officers and medics responded to her home in the 3600 block of South Thompson where they found the little boy.
"God knows what I did…I'm bad for doing what I did, I did it to the baby.
He's gone," Walker reportedly told investigators at the scene.
The boy was transported to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Aleesha Walker was taken into custody, questioned and booked into the Pierce
County Jail for investigation of murder. She has no other children.
Monday, the judge ordered Walker to undergo a psychiatric evaluation, and
agreed to hold off on her entering a plea. During the 911 call, Walker
said voices in her head told her to hurt her child.
"I just have lost my mind and I thought that the devil and God were talking to me."
Investigators said there had been several referrals to Child Protective Services
regarding Walker and her son. A woman said she reported Walker to CPS
just after Noah was born.
"CPS was well aware of the risk and
didn't do anything," Deborah Dahl said. However, CPS said the
allegations made against Walker could not be substantiated.
According to Department of Social and Health Services spokeswoman Sherry Hill,
CPS received the first referral in 2010 when Noah was just 2 months old.
A social worker investigated allegations of poor hygiene, dirty home
and Walker's use of marijuana and methamphetamine. The worker found both
the house and the baby in fine shape, and offered the mother parenting
classes but she declined.
Three more referrals were made in February, April and June of 2011 by those concerned that the boy looked
dirty and the mother appeared to be under the influence of drugs, Hill
said. The referrals also included allegations of domestic violence by
the mother's boyfriend.
However, CPS believed the boy's living
condition had improved after the mother moved out of the home she had
been sharing with her boyfriend. Walker tested positive for marijuana
and was urged to attend parenting classes, but she declined.
Walker is being held without bail.

The possible sentence is far too lenient. What's up with that? It it OK to murder children in Washington?
