Folsom Couple Find Dead Infant In Their Backyard

FOLSOM (CBS13) – A Folsom couple says they returned from vacation to find the body of a baby in their backyard.

The shocking discovery was made Sunday at around 3:50 p.m. at the home in the 1900 block of Tyndrum Lane in the Empire Ranch area of Folsom.

“I know the couple that lives here and I haven’t seen her lately. I didn’t know if she was pregnant or someone living in the house was pregnant,” said Chan Kim, a neighbor. “They have a daughter who is about the same age as my son — maybe a year older. A teenager about 18 years old.”

Police say the infant showed no signs of trauma. They are not releasing its sex or race or saying whether it had been carried to full term.

“It’s just a shocker,” neighbor Diane Kim said. “Just a tragic situation. As a mom, it hurts.”

At around noon, the home owner drove up the home in a green pickup truck. He threw a shirt over his head and ran inside. A couple also drove to the home in a sedan and refused CBS13′s request for an interview.

An autopsy is planned. The death is considered suspicious.

The coroner's office released the names of the parents of the baby found
dead in a Folsom backyard and confirmed that the baby was a girl -- and
born alive.

Owners of the property are Darrel and Freda Friddle.

KCRA 3 has uncovered new information in the case of a baby found in a Folsom couple's backyard earlier this month.

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office confirms the baby was a girl, but the cause of her death remains undetermined.
The coroner's office has also named the parents of the child.
The child's mother's name is Kara Friddle, and the child’s father's name is Matthew Baudendistel.

KCRA 3 is still waiting to hear back on the results of a toxicology report that was requested by the coroner’s office.
According
to a property record obtained by KCRA 3, Darrell Friddle and Freda
Friddle own the home where the baby was found. It is still unknown what
-- if any -- relation there is between the home's owners and Kara
Friddle, the baby's mother.
The
coroner's office originally said the infant was determined to have been
born alive and lived for 15 hours. A statement was later released by
the coroner's office that said the baby's age on the coroner's website
was listed incorrectly because of a computer glitch.
The statement added that the case remains under investigation and the cause of death is undetermined.

Folsom
police said because this is an ongoing investigation, and they have not
determined if any crimes have been committed, they are not going to
comment on the case at this time.
