Mother & Boyfriend Charged with Abusing 3 Year Old

WEST YORK, YORK COUNTY— A York County mom and her boyfriend are charged with physically abusing the mother's three year old son. 29 year old Victoria Manning, of West York and 33 year old Darren Leber, of Dover were charged on Monday by West York Borough Police.

According to court papers, during an interview on August 19, Manning admitted that she caused an injury to the child's face and bruising on the left side of his back. She confessed that she hit the child harder than she should have. But she said that she did not burn her son's foot. She also attributed other bruises on the child as being cause by her boyfriend, Darren Leber.

Manning also noted that she would come home from work and see bruises on the child's face and arms. She also said that when Leber would give her son a shower, she would hear stomps, bangs and then screaming by her son. She would also hear her son gagging and gurgling as if he was being held under water. She told police that about every time Leber would watch her son, he would have bruising somewhere on his body. She said that Leber would make her son eat his food until he would throw up.

Bother Manning and Leber face charges involving Simpe Assault and Endangering Welfare of Children. Manning is free on $2,500 bail. Leber is being held in York County Prison in lieu of $2,500 bail and on a detainer from an unrelated charge.
