Glen Carbon man accused of beating toddler

EDWARDSVILLE • A Glen Carbon man has been accused of beating his girlfriend's 23-month-old child.

Jay M. Miller, 20, of the 100 block of Sherwood Drive, was charged today in Madison County with one count of aggravated battery to a child. On Tuesday, Edwardsville police were contacted by officials at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis. The child was taken to the hospital by the mother on the advice of the family doctor. The investigation led to the arrest of Miller, who is the boyfriend of the victim's mother.

No other details were immediately available.

Miller was being held in the Madison County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
