FAIRVIEW, OR (KPTV) - Fairview police are investigating the death of a 10-year-old girl at the King's Gardens apartment complex.

Miranda Crockett was found dead early Saturday morning at her father's apartment, according to family members.

Miranda's father's girlfriend, Chandra Rose, has been arrested in connection to her death.

Rose is charged with two felony counts of criminal mistreatment and a misdemeanor count of reckless endangerment.

Neighbors told FOX 12 that Rose had been living in the apartment since summer.

Family members have created a website to raise money for Miranda's funeral.

Fairview police said the investigation is ongoing, and they're not releasing any additional information.

Rose is expected to appear in court Tuesday.

The 10-year-old Fairview girl found dead at her apartment last month died of asphyxia by drowning, according to medical examiner Dr. Larry Lewman.

In addition, he said, Miranda Crockett's death was ruled a homicide. He had previously said her death occurred under unusual circumstances.

Crockett's father's girlfriend, Chandra Ilene Rose, is facing criminal mistreatment charges in connection with her death. Rose was charged with five counts of criminal mistreatment, one count of coercion and one count of recklessly endangering another. Most of the counts refer to alleged actions on Saturday, Nov. 24, but two criminal mistreatment counts accuse Rose of intentionally causing physical injury to Miranda between June 1 and Nov. 21.

Rose is to appear in court on Dec. 19, according to court records. A hearing scheduled for today was cancelled.

Rose and her three children moved in with Crockett's father last summer while Crockett was visiting her grandparents. Crockett was kept home from school for homeschooling with the other children.

Rose made her first appearance Nov. 27 in Multnomah County Circuit Court. Wearing a suicide smock, the 34-year-old appeared confused throughout the short hearing. The judge raised her bail to $100,000 and appointed a lawyer to represent her.

Fairview police, along with the East Multnomah County Major Crimes Team, were investigating the death at the apartment in the 2700 block of Northeast 205th Avenue.

Fairview Police Chief Ken Johnson said other children in the home have been taken into protective custody.

Miranda's father, Dan Crockett, has a job as a caregiver and was working when Miranda's body was found, neighbors and the girl's grandfather said.
