Police: 8 Month Old Burned By Mother

ATMORE, Ala. -- An Atmore woman has been arrested after Police say she dropped her baby in a bon fire.

It happened late Saturday night when police responded to a call that a child had been burned.

Upon arrival, they noticed an 8 month old child had burns on both of her legs.

After interviewing several witnesses it was determined that the child was being held by her mother Amanda Pugh, 26 of Atmore who had been drinking and was standing outside in the yard by the fire.

Witnesses stated Amanda Pugh passed out dropping the child in the fire, therefore causing the injuries.

Pugh was arrested at the scene for Assault 1st Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child and was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center.

The child was transported by life flight from Atmore Community Hospital to USA Medical Center in Mobile and is listed in good condition.
