Michigan City man admits to shooting fiance's son during "gun game"

LAPORTE COUNTY - A Michigan City man charged in the shooting death of his fiance's 3-year-old son during what they called a "gun game" has pleaded guilty.

Formal charges were officially filed against 24-year old Zak Grisham back in September after police say Gisham pulled the trigger while playing a game with his fiance's son, 3-year-old Lance Wilson.

The coroner says the child died instantly from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Police say they were playing something call the "gun game," but this time Grisham forgot his gun was loaded.

Grisham pleaded guilty Thursday to a lesser charge of neglect of a dependent, a B felony. The prosecutor is recommending he be sentenced to no more than 12 years in prison.
