ENID, Oklahoma — Six-week-old Kadence Connor's newborn photos show a peaceful, apparently healthy baby girl.
But police in Enid, Oklahoma say Kadence was blanketed with lice, diaper rash, feces, and dirt when she was found dead in her home this week.
Mark and Jennifer Cannon admitted to police they had been drinking all night before getting into an argument.
Mark Cannon told cops he left the home with Kadence and her one-year-old brother. Cannon said he came home around sunrise and put the little girl to bed.
Over six hours later, Connon says he found her unresponsive.
“I need an ambulance. My little niece is not breathing,” an aunt said after calling 911.
Cops said both parents still appeared to be intoxicated when they arrived at the home. They were arrested and taken to the Garfield County Detention Center, accused of child neglect.
“There was evidence that the neglect had taken course over a period of time,” Lt. Eric Holtzclaw told KOCO in Oklahoma City.
The girl's aunt defended Jennifer Cannon, saying “she did nothing wrong.”
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. Meanwhile, the one-year-old boy was taken into protective custody.

ENID, Okla. —The parents of a 6-week-old girl have been arrested on complaints of child neglect following the death of the Enid infant.
The child’s aunt made a frantic call to 911 Wednesday pleading for help.
“I need an ambulance. My little niece is not breathing,” the aunt said in the call.
The aunt requested her name be withheld.
The aunt tried CPR to save her, but Cadence Cannon later died at Bass Hospital.
“She was a happy baby,” the aunt said. “She's bright-eyed and bushytailed.”
The baby’s parents, Mark Cannon and Jennifer Cannon, allegedly admitted to officers that they were up drinking all night and got into an argument. The parents told investigators they left their home separately.
Mark Cannon said he returned home, fed his daughter and put her to sleep in bed around sunrise Wednesday, according to police. He told officers he later checked on her and found her cold and not breathing.
Investigators say that was six and a half hours after he put her to bed.
Jennifer Cannon then arrived at the residence. Investigators said they determined when speaking with both Mark Cannon and Jennifer Cannon that they still appeared to be under the influence.
Both parents were taken to the Garfield County Detention Center.
“There was evidence that the neglect had taken course over a period of time,” said Lt. Eric Holtzclaw of the Enid Police Department.
According to investigators, the baby was in poor health and had severe diaper rash.
The baby's aunt said Jennifer Cannon had just taken Cadence to the doctor for treatment.
“I don't know why they would be charging her for neglect because she didn’t do anything wrong,” the aunt said. “As far as I’m concerned, neither one of them did.”
The infant's body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City for an autopsy. A 1-year-old male child at the residence was taken into protective custody by the Department of Human Services, officers said.
The investigation is still pending and more charges could be filed pending the autopsy report, along with any other findings that would support any additional charges.
