Mother accused of giving infant alcohol

RUSSELLVILLE, AL (WFLA) -An Alabama woman was arrested after her 5-week-old baby tested positive for alcohol.
Russerville Police say Katherine Putman's baby had a .283 alcohol level when they arrived at the hospital.
According to NBC affiliate WAFF, Putnam told investigators she apparently mixed what she thought was water left in a water bottle with her child's cereal. Police said it was vodka.
Medics were called to the home when the baby became unresponsive. Once at the hospital, staff detected the smell of alcohol and called police.
Putnam is charged with first-degree domestic violence and released from jail on $50,000 bond.
The baby is expected to be okay.
