South Bend mom accused of bringing baby to buy heroin pleads guilty

South Bend - A South Bend mother pleaded guilty Thursday to felony neglect of a dependent.
Police say 31-year-old Heather Gipperich took her 9-month-old baby with her to buy heroin.
A week later in February, Gipperich reported her baby missing after she showed up at her mom's house without the child.
Police started a frantic search, but Baby Bethany was then found safe in Elkhart hours later with a woman who was taking care of her for several days.
Gipperich is set to be sentenced September 15.
