NICHOLAS STURGILL - 15 yo - Roseville MI
While some teens have been known to run away from their homes for a
few days before returning, police say there are usually clues that
indicate the teen is safe somewhere with friends or other family
members. Not this time.
Since 15-year-old Nicholas Sturgill of Roseville took off July 17, leaving
behind a note that said he was going on a bike ride, no one has heard
from him and he hasn’t logged into his MySpace page since mid-July,
which, according to police, is unusual for him.
“We’ve checked with every family member, friend,” Roseville Deputy Police Chief James Berlin said.
“When he left home, he took no clothes, nothing with him at the time,” Berlin said.
He also didn’t leave with any of the medication he needs to take on a
daily basis for a mild heard condition, according to police information.
Police also say the teen didn’t leave behind any evidence that would lead them
to believe this was a runaway situation, and the length of time he’s
now been gone and not heard from have police concerned.
“Usually, we hear from a family member or friend, ‘I’ve talked to him, he’s OK,’” Berlin said.
But that hasn’t happened in this case.
While police were not calling this an issue of foul play at press time, they are not ruling out the possibility.
The teen, who attended Redford Union High School last year, recently moved
to Roseville to live with his uncle, who was serving as his new foster
father.
“There was some adjustment issues,” Berlin said of the change in the teen’s life.
Sturgill is 6 feet tall, approximately 150 pounds and has blue eyes and blond hair.
Anyone who knows where he is or can help police with information should call (586) 775-2100.

Re: NICHOLAS STURGILL - 15 yo - Roseville MI
Nicholas Sturgill was last seen July 17. He’d left a note for his
parents saying he was going for a bike ride but never came home.
Nicholas recently was placed with his fraternal uncle as a foster
father, police said, and was having difficulty, but he took nothing
with him to indicate he was running away.
Police said
Nicholas has a mild heart condition that requires daily medication but
he didn’t take the meds with him. Police said that while there is no
evidence of foul play, it has not been ruled out.
Nicholas
most recently attended Redford Union High School in Redford Township.
Police said he might be staying with friends in that area.
Nicholas is 6 feet tall, weighs 160 pounds and has blue eyes and blond hair.
Anyone with information is asked to call Roseville Police at 586-775-2100.

Re: NICHOLAS STURGILL - 15 yo - Roseville MI
Nicholas Sturgill's years in foster care have been troubled and
turbulent, including a headline-making trip to the hospital when his
aunt injected him with heroin in 2006 at age 12, police and relatives
say. Now 15, the boy -- who has a mild heart condition -- is
missing from his most recent placement, his uncle's home in Roseville.
And police fear he could be in danger. "It's not unusual for
teenagers to run way, but usually they come back after a couple days,"
Roseville Deputy Police Chief James Berlin said. "This kid has pretty
much literally dropped off the face of the Earth. That's unusual. We
want to make sure this kid is all right."
Nicholas disappeared July 17 after
leaving a note for his uncle that said he was going for a bike ride.
Authorities said the teen did not appear to take any clothing or
personal items -- including a daily medication for an irregular
heartbeat -- with him when he left. The teen had just moved
from a state-run boys' home in Redford Township to live with his uncle,
who was recently awarded custody. Police say Nicholas, who was
wearing a T-shirt and shorts when he disappeared, is 6 feet tall,
weighs 160 pounds and has blue eyes and blond hair. Berlin said
Nicholas hasn't contacted any known friends or relatives over the last
two weeks, nor has he accessed his Facebook.com account. As the days
continue to pass, authorities say they are fearing foul play. Nicholas'
uncle, Matthew Franks, said he took the quiet teen in a couple weeks
ago to give him a better chance in life. He'd attended two days of
summer school in Roseville before he went missing. "I don't
know if he had any intention to take off and be gone or to go for a
bike ride and come back," said Franks, 38, who is Nicholas' paternal
uncle. "I have no clue as to where to go looking for him." The
teen's troubles made the news in 2006 after his aunt, Jacqueline Vuich,
was prosecuted for injecting Nicholas with heroin near the elbow as he
ate dinner at his grandmother's home in Warren. At the time of the Jan.
24, 2006, incident, Nicholas, then 12, was one of eight grandchildren
under the care of Jan Catton. Nicholas was rushed to Bi-County Hospital
and treated for a heroin overdose. Catton pleaded no contest to
charges of maintaining a drug house and a house of prostitution. She
received two years' probation. Vuich pleaded guilty to delivery
of narcotics to a minor, first- and second-degree child abuse,
maintaining a drug house and keeping a person younger than 16 in a home
of prostitution. She was sentenced to at least eight years in prison. Berlin
said authorities are also trying to locate the teen's mother. She is
believed to be mixed up in drugs and prostitution and living in
Detroit, Franks said, adding she is barred from having contact with her
son. The teen's father, who lives in Harrison Township, struggles with mental illness and does not have legal custody, Berlin said. The teen recently attended Redford Union High School and could be staying with some friends in that area. Anyone who has seen Nicolas or may know his whereabouts should call the Roseville Police at (586) 775-2100.

Nicholas - FOUND SAFE
A teen with a heart condition who went missing last month was
recently found unharmed and in good health by the Macomb County
Sheriff's Department, police said today. Roseville police say
Nicholas Sturgill, 15, had been living on the street or staying with
friends near 16 Mile and Jefferson in Harrison Township. It is
unclear why the Roseville teen disappeared July 17 from his uncle's
home. Roseville police today said he was located on Aug. 17.
Police said Nicholas left a note that
said he was going for a bike ride, but never returned. He did not
appear to take any clothing or personal items, including a daily
medication for an irregular heartbeat. He also hadn't logged on to any
social networking Web site accounts, police said. Before he
left, Nicholas had just moved from a state-run boys' home in Redford
Township to live with his uncle, who was recently awarded custody. Nicholas is being detained in the Macomb County Youth Home pending a disposition hearing. "Thankfully,
he's safe and the courts will make a determination where he goes from
here," said Roseville Deputy Police Chief James Berlin today. Relatives
and police said the teen's aunt made headlines in 2006 for injecting
Nicholas with heroin at age 12. His aunt, Jacqueline Vuich, was
prosecuted for injecting Nicholas with heroin near the elbow as he ate
dinner at his grandmother's home in Warren. Nicholas'
grandmother, Jan Catton, received probation in connection with the Jan.
