The Denver City Police Department has issued an amber alert for the son of a murder suspect in Denver City. Police are searching for 3-year-old Mitchell Romero. He has black hair and unknown other physical descriptions.


The suspect, 34-year-old Mario Romero, who is wanted in connection with a
murder, was last seen driving a maroon 2004 GMC Yukon with Texas
License plate 43WFX6.

Police in Denver City issued an amber alert for 3-year-old Mitchell

According the alert, which was received by the Odessa Police Department, Denver City authorities believe Mitchell may be in grave danger.

According to the Denver City police, Mario is wanted on a murder charge, accused of killing his wife Friday.

Denver City police searched for a 3-year-old boy and his father, a man
they're calling a person of interest in the death of the boy's mother.
The Texas Department of Public Safety issued an Amber Alert for
Mitchell Romero, a 3-year-old Hispanic male with black hair, after
Denver City police discovered him missing Thursday from the home where
his mother was found dead.
Vernonica Esquivel Romero, 29, of Denver City was found dead about 6 p.m. Thursday in her home in
the 200 block of E. 10th Street in Denver City.
Police suspected her husband, Mario Molina Romero, was en route to Mexico with the couple's son.
Romero, 34, is a Hispanic male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing about 205 pounds
with black hair and brown eyes, according to a Denver City police news
release.
Investigators suspect he is driving a maroon 2004 GMC Yukon with Texas license plates 434-FX6.

A 3-year-old Denver City boy is still missing after his mother was found dead last Thursday. Monday marks day three of the Amber Alert for Mitchell Romero since the boy's disappearance and investigators say he was last seen with his father.

Veronica Esquivel Romero, 29, was laid to rest Monday morning, but family members won't rest until her son Mitchell Romero is found. "We knew something was wrong. Something was wrong because she never left her kids behind," said sister Maria Esquievel.

A warrant has been issued for Veronica's husband, Mario Romero. He is charged with murder after the victim's sister Maria found his wife's body in their home.

Before her death, Veronica worked at the Family Dollar in town for about four months and coworkers say she was very close to her kids. "She brought in her youngest son all the time, when she could, and talked about him constantly," said co-worker Jessica Elms.

Elms says she got the chance to meet Veronica's husband. "The vibe that I got off from him, he wasn't what I wanted to be around. He just didn't put off a good vibe to me," said Elms.

Police belief the father abducted Mitchell and that he is in grave danger. There is also talk he could be headed to Mexico where he is from. The two were last seen in Denver City driving a maroon 2004 Yukon with TX plates 43W-FX6.

A very sad ending to the story of a little boy who went missing
from Denver City in mid October, authorities believe Mitchell Romero
has died in a traffic accident in Mexico. The three-year-old
disappeared after his mother Veronica was found murdered. Denver City
Police believe the boy's father killed her and then took the boy. Thursday
Denver City Police announced they have reason to believe the little boy
is in fact dead. This accident was near the town of Manuel Ojinaga
Mexico which is just across the border from Presidio, Texas. A
Spanish language newspaper reports Romero was riding with family when
the driver of the vehicle lost control. Local authorities say speed was
a factor and no one was wearing a seat belt. The report says the
three-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Denver City
police heard the boy was being brought back to the U.S. by his father's
side of the family, they do not have that
confirmed yet. Lt. Higgs with the Denver City Police plans to release
more information in a written statement sometime Friday. Police believe
Mario Romero is still in Mexico.

City, Texas - Mitchell Romero, 3 years of age, was killed Wednesday,
November 4, 2009 when the vehicle he was in overturned. The accident
occurred south of Ojinaga, mesico. The vehicle was driven by family
members. No other information is available on the accident or occupants.

Mario Romero, father, is still being sought on murder charges. He is believed to be in Mexico.

Services for Mitchell Romero are pending with Ratliff Funeral Home in Denver City.
