"Baby" DJUKANOVIC-DAVIS - 5 weeks - Philadelphia PA
A mother and father were arrested in Northeast Philadelphia
yesterday morning and charged with horrifically injuring their infant
son, police said.
The case against George Djukanovic, 20, and Aimee Davis, 20, dates
to Sept. 18, when medics found their 5-week-old son unresponsive inside
the couple's home on Ditman Street near Robbins, police said.
The baby was admitted to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in critical condition.
Police said doctors who examined the boy found that he had "injuries
that are consistent with child abuse," including bleeding of the brain,
fractured ribs and a fractured right leg and collarbone.
The infant remains in guarded condition. Authorities said he suffered permanent brain damage.
Djukanovic and Davis were charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to court records, Davis was arrested Jan. 16 on similar
charges. Trial had been set for March 8, 2010. Records also show that
Djukanovic was charged twice in 2008 with drug offenses. The charges in
one of those cases were withdrawn.
