Chicago police are seeking the public's help in finding a 15-year-old North Side girl missing since Thanksgiving Day, when she had a disagreement with her parents.Kayla
Downer was last seen when she left her home in the 1600 block of West
Pratt Avenue wearing a black t-shirt with karate fighters on the front
and white jogging pants, according to police.


She has not attended
classes at Rickover Naval Academy School since Thanksgiving.Downer
is described as an African American about 5 feet 5 inches tall and
about 150 pounds, with medium complexion, black hair and brown eyes.Police asked anyone with information about her whereabouts to call 911 or the Belmont Area Special Victims Unit at 312-744-8266.

A 15-year-old girl missing from her North Side
home since Thanksgiving has been located and is safe, Chicago Police
said late Thursday afternoon.

Kayla Downer, 15, left home on Nov. 26 after a disagreement with her
parents. Belmont Area Special Victims Unit detectives later said she
had been in contact with friends and police via her Myspace.com social
networking page.

On the Web site, Kayla indicated the people she was staying were
unaware that she had been reported missing, and that she was “trying to
figure out what to do with her life,” according to police.

SVU detectives also said the people harboring her would be subject to arrest and prosecution.

Kayla, a student at Rikover Academy, was found safe on Thursday, but it
was not immediately clear whether any charges would be filed in
connection with her disappearance.
