Investigators with the Columbia Police Department say Tianna Hope
Hyder is about 4-foot-11 and weighs about 140 pounds.

Hyder was last
seen riding a purple bicycle to the McDonald's on Garners Ferry Road
and Wildcat Road at 8 a.m., according to officers.
Police say Hyder worked at that McDonald's. Officers say they are not sure whether Hyder is in any kind of danger.

Tianna Hyder: missing since December 2009

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - It's been four months since a Columbia teen went
missing. Tianna Hyder was a student at Dreher High School who got good
grades and was on the dance team. No one has seen her since before
Christmas. We sat down with her mother, who wakes up every morning
hoping to hear her daughter's voice.

"She just vanished," said Sheila Hyder, who is only able to see her daughter Tianna's brown eyes
in photos. Thursday night, Hyder was hoping they're still blinking somewhere.

"I just want to tell her I love her," said Hyder. "I just want her to walk through the door."

Their rosewood front porch was the last place she saw the 16-year-old. It was five days
before Christmas, and the Dreher High School junior was about to hop on
her bicycle to ride to her job at the McDonald's at Rosewood and Garners
Ferry.

"I said 'I love you' and she said 'I love you,'" recalled Hyder.

Columbia police believe Hyder ran away with a love
interest, 21-year-old Mateo Luna Mendez. Police say he's an illegal
immigrant from Mexico who was spending time in South Carolina.

"She
just became infatuated with him," said Hyder. "I did not approve, he
was a lot older than she was."

Police consider Tianna to be a victim of his, since she's under 18. In late December, police talked
briefly with Tianna over the phone. They traced the call to Mexico, but no one's heard from her since.

Columbia police say this situation is rare. They say usually a runaway would communicate with someone.
Hyder has close friends at Dreher High School who haven't heard from her. Her MySpace and Facebook pages haven't been updated since the day she went missing.

"Sometimes I think the worst, sometimes I try to think the best," said Hyder.

Sheila Hyder says no matter how long it takes, at every moment she still has hope to hear her daughter's
voice again.

"Somebody's got to find out where she is or what's going on," said Hyder.

Three different agencies are currently working to find Tianna Hyder. Police say flyers with her picture have
even been posted up in Mexico. Her mother hopes this story will be viewed by someone who can come through with a tip. Please call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
