MARYSVILLE - An accused baby killer is on the run and cops want him
behind bars. A million dollar warrant has been issued for James Douglas
Fryberg.
Fryberg failed to appear in court Tuesday morning. Fryberg is accused
of killing his girlfriend's baby in May 2009. He was booked into the
Snohomish County Jail in November and charged with second-degree murder
in the case.
Here is the suspect's info:
Born: 12/07/88
Hgt: 5'11"
Wgt: 160 lbs
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Brown
Officials say the baby died as a result of blunt trauma. Fryberg first
told police the baby had fallen down the stairs but an autopsy
confirmed that the baby was killed.
Relatives claim that the child began showing unexplained bruises when
his mother and her boyfriend, who had been dating for two months, first
moved into their Marysville apartment.|
The night of the reported fall was only the second time that Fryberg
had been left alone with the child, who had shown a black eye and a
swollen face after the first time Fryberg was left alone with him,
according to the police reports. The report also said that Fryberg
blamed these earlier injuries on a dog.
Fryberg told police that child had fallen and said that the child fell
asleep on the couch after he picked him up and gave him a bottle.
Fryberg reported that when he woke up May 14 at approximately 1 p.m.
the child wasn't breathing, approximately 12 hours after he'd been
gasping for breath.
According to the police report, detectives concluded that Fryberg was
"the only person that could have caused the injuries" which resulted in
the child's death.

MARYSVILLE - Marysville Police say a man matching a description of
James Douglas Fryberg, 21, robbed the Haggens pharmacy Tuesday night
just before 6pm. Detectives were able to obtain independent witnesses
who identified Fryberg as the robber through photo line-ups.
Although no weapon was seen by employees of the pharmacy, the suspect
implied that he had a firearm when he demanded prescription narcotics
from the clerk. Marysville Police say Fryberg should be considered
armed and dangerous.
Marysville Police are asking for the public's help in locating Fryberg so that he can be taken into custody.
"We do not want the public to intervene or to try to apprehend Fryberg,
but rather ask that people call 911 to report his whereabouts."
Anyone that has or believes they have information regarding the robbery
or the whereabouts of James Fryberg are asked to also call Marysville

EVERETT, Wash. - A man who killed his girlfriend's little boy was sentenced Tuesday to 11 years in prison.
The Daily Herald of Everett reports 21-year-old James Fryberg of Tulalip pleaded guilty last month in the beating death in May of last year of Damoniko Ashby.
At the time of the 15-month-old boy's death, Fryberg claimed the child fell down the stairs. Detectives said an autopsy showed otherwise. They said the child was reportedly beaten and bruised.
Fryberg failed to appear at a court appearance this past March and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Authorities say while he was on the run Fryberg robbed a pharmacy in Marysville. He was arrested on March 12th in a wooded area near the Tulalip Indian Reservation. Fryberg subsequently admitted to robbing the pharmacy for prescription painkillers.
The Herald reports Fryberg was sentenced to 11 years in prison - the most punishment he could legally receive under the circumstances. By entering a guilty plea, Fryberg avoided having a jury consider aggravating factors that could have led to a longer sentence.
Several times during the sentencing, Damoniko Ashby's relatives interrupted the proceedings by yelling insults and threats at Fryberg. Several people were asked to leave the courtroom.
