Multiple agencies and more than 150 volunteers continued searching for
an 11-year-old girl missing from Winter Springs Saturday afternoon.Search
and rescue teams will cover up to 10 acres from the Barrington Estates
subdivision, where Nadia Morgan Bloom was last seen riding her bike, all
the way back to Lake Jesup.
Nadia's family members said she's
autistic, and she requires medication. She was last seen Friday
afternoon.Police said Nadia went for a bike ride at about 3:30
p.m. About an hour later, her mother frantically called police after the
11-year-old's bicycle was found upright, with the kick stand down and
her helmet on the handlebars in a cul-de-sac at the end of Wrentham
Court.
Winter Springs Police Department Chief Kevin Brunelle said they have no
reason to believe Nadia was abducted."Everything we have leads us
to a search and rescue, not foul play," he said.He said his
team, along with the Seminole County divers, Florida Airboat Search and
Rescue and a number of other agencies, are treating Nadia's
disappearance as a missing persons case."Best case scenario, she
walks out of the woods and we find her and everything is fine," Brunelle
said. "Obviously that is what we are looking for, and I'm not prepared
to talk about worst-case scenario right now. I want to stay positive."
Nadia's parents were with family members and their pastor on Saturday.
Neighbors were outside in the community watching and waiting for Nadia's
safe return as crews combed over areas organized in grids."Well,
everybody is waiting around to see if there is anything we can do,"
said neighbor Steve Glazier. "It's frustrating. You want to help and do
something. We go in and wander out hoping we get some news."The
police chief said he's happy to know that Nadia does not like to get
dirty, and he does not believe she went into the deep mud. He said he
believes that her autism would make her averse to water, as well.Nadia's
grandfather told WESH 2 a little more about his granddaughter and
called her "intelligent.""She is very inquisitive," Jim Bloom
said. "I am proud to be her grandfather, very blessed to be her
grandfather."Nadia is 5 feet tall and weighs 85 pounds. She has
brown hair and brown eyes. Police said she was last seen wearing an

Re: NADIA BLOOM - 11 yo - Winter Springs FL
Divers have begun searching a pond in a Seminole County neighborhood
as part of a massive search for a missing
11-year-old girl.Nadia Bloom’s family said they found her
bicycle near the woods in the gated Barrington Estates subdivision Friday afternoon.Search
efforts went until 2 a.m. Saturday, resumed again at daylight later in
the morning.Meanwhile, police have begun getting out the word out
about Nadia’s disappearance.Authorities have sent an e-mail with Nadia’s picture to thousands of
neighbors, as well as distributed paper fliers around the community.Police
said they did not suspect foul play, and believe Nadia is still
somewhere in the woods, but wanted everyone to know what she looks like
in case she’s somewhere else.Winter Springs police chief Kevin
Brunelle said Nadia’s family found her bike Friday afternoon with the
“kickstand up, helmet hanging on the handle bars. No indication of any
struggle.”Police said they are concentrating their efforts on a
5- to 10-acre section of the Black Hammock Woods, a dense marshy area
where they said it is tough to see more than a few feet ahead at times.“We
have divers in the ponds, seeing if they can find anything,” Brunelle
said. “We have to eliminate it. We don’t know anything, but we have to
eliminate it as a possibility.”As many as 150 officers and
trained volunteers searched on ATVs and airboats, mindful of signs
warning them to beware of alligators.“It just pulls on my heart
strings, because I have three kids, and I know she’s scared,” said Danny
Ibison, with Florida-3 Airboat Search
and Rescue.“We’ve learned some stuff about Nadia that we are
very happy to hear,” Brunelle said. “She’s an 11-year-old young lady,
and she don’t like to get dirty. So we don’t believe she’s going
into, circumvent that mud -- and let me tell you: There’s a lot of mud
out there.”As the search entered its second day, the Florida
Department of Law Enforcement deployed its Child Abduction Response
Team, and police paid a visit to all sex offenders in the area.Even
though there was no evidence to support that Nadia was abducted, the
problem is there has been no evidence at all of what happened to her.“Right
now there are no leads,” Brunelle. “We have one thing: A child that’s
missing.”Police distributed missing posters with Nadia’s photo at
area businesses, hoping that if she comes out of the woods -- where
rescuers aren’t -- she will be met by a friendly face.“Hopefully
she’ll find her way, or find someone who will guide her back to her
family,” said Tabitha Miller, a Winter Springs resident. “Pray for
strength for her family.”The police chief said the parents have
been holding up rather well. They have their pastor and family with
them, and have cooperated fully with the investigation.
How You Can HelpIf
you have any information on where Nadia Bloom may be, call the Florida
Department of Law Enforcement Tip Line at (866) 282-0672.Police
said they wanted to keep the search to only trained volunteers at this
time, to keep the effort at a manageable level.Authorities said
there were problems Friday night with unidentified searchers who threw
off their own teams as they were using their infrared cameras. However, if
their efforts expand beyond the wooded area where Nadia parked her
bike, they want help to be readily available. For more on how you
can help, call Winter Springs
police at (407) 327-1000.

Ovie it makes me madder than a rattle snake too. They align themselves with other cases that bare no resemblance to what happened to Caylee. Caylee did not wander off nor was she taken by a stranger and their attempts to "be part of that club" P me off big time.oviedo45 wrote:http://www.clickorlando.com/news/23108023/detail.html

I agree! There is NOTHING the A's can offer to ANY search for a missing child. NOTHING. The A's have done EVERYTHING WRONG in the case of their granddaughter, who was never "missing". Are they going to advise the parents of Nadia to lie to law enforcement and refuse DNA tests and lie detector tests, and do everything they can to divert search efforts?
Those poor parents, what they are going through, then on top of it they
have the world famous media whores show up to talk to them!!!!!
Absolutely disgusting!!!!!!! Wonder if NOKF org sent them over there to get
their toe in the door for missing child buttons and bracelets and banners and
billboards and bass boats and fundraising tents and most important DONATION
JARS???

Re: NADIA BLOOM - 11 yo - Winter Springs FL
Rescuers and volunteers are continuing their search for an 11-year-old
autistic gril who left her home Friday afternoon .
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued a missing child alert for Nadia
Bloom Saturday.
The little girl was last seen in the area of Westcott Loop in Winter Springs,
which is located about 15 miles north of Orlando.
Nadia is 5 feet tall, 85 pounds, shoulder length
brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt,
black shorts and carrying a backpack with a black horse on it.
Media reports in the Orlando area say the little girl is autistic and
apparently disappeared from her neighborhood Friday afternoon. Officers
found her bike shortly after she disappeared, but have not found any
other signs of the girl.
According to Winter Springs Police, they
are usually able to find missing children within a few hours. Because
Nadia has been missing for so long they have had to bring in more
trained searchers to look for her by air, on ground, and in the water.
Searchers are combing through between five and ten acres of brush and swamp near
Nadia’s neighborhood. They say if she is there, they will find her.
The Winter Springs Police Department says Saturday’s search effort with
more that 150 trained personnel and volunteers is the largest they have
had in more than twenty years.
Residents in Barrington Estates where Nadia lives say it’s hard to just sit and watch.
"Everybody is just waiting around to see if we can get any news and if there's
anything anybody can do. It's just kind of frustrating for
everybody" Steve Glazier said.
If you have any information about Nadia's whereabouts, you are asked to call the
Winter Springs Police Department at 407-327-1000 or 911.

Searchers and a dive team combed through swampy woods
in Winter Springs in hopes of finding a mildly autistic 11-year-old
girl who went missing Friday afternoon. The search for Nadia
Morgan Bloom expanded to an area about 2 or 3 square miles around her
Barrington Estates neighborhood — and authorities Saturday began looking
at other possible reasons for her disappearance, Winter Springs police
Chief Kevin Brunelle said. The Florida Department of Law
Enforcement child-abduction team is helping in the search, but the
agency's presence doesn't mean authorities think Nadia was abducted,
Brunelle said."We have nothing that tells us this girl has been
kidnapped," he said. "It's just something we have to do."Still,
Brunelle said Saturday night that the case involves "strange"
circumstances. For example, Nadia disappeared from a cul-de-sac in a
gated community, where strangers presumably would have had little
access."We have no [crime] scene," he told reporters at a news
conference Saturday night. The FDLE did issue two missing-child
alerts but as of late Saturday had not issued an Amber Alert. Under
federal Department of Justice guidelines, Amber Alerts are issued only
when authorities have confirmed a child has been abducted and is in
danger, and when a description of the suspect can be provided. There
are five registered sex offenders living within 2 miles of Nadia's
home, according to the FDLE.The search team includes dozens of
law-enforcement personnel and volunteers.Nadia disappeared from
her gated community about 3:15 p.m. Friday, leaving behind her bicycle —
with her helmet placed on the handlebars. At the time, authorities said she may have wandered into nearby woods
to photograph flowers with her new camera. The girl's parents
were unavailable for comment Saturday. The community borders the
Lake Jesup Conservation Area, and a drainage pond is within the
community. Lake Jesup is less than a mile away.Nadia is described
as 5 feet tall and 85 pounds, with shoulder-length brown hair and
glasses. She was wearing an orange shirt, blue shorts and Crocs or
flip-flops on her feet.Authorities said anyone with information
about Nadia can call the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Tip Line
at 1-866-282-0672.

Winter Springs Community Awaits Nadia's Return
Girl, 11, Disappeared While Riding Bike Friday Afternoon

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. --
Bloom on Sunday, her community rallied together for her safe return.Nadia
was last seen Friday afternoon, when she went out to ride her bike in
the cul-de-sac at the end of Wrentham Court in Barrington Estates, a
gated community in Winter Springs. Police found her bike sitting
upright, with the kickstand down and her helmet on the handlebars, but
the girl was nowhere to be found.Nadia and her family attended a
service at Metro Church in Winter Springs just last Sunday. This week,
they were noticeably missing. The church's minister, Randy Green,
visited the girl's mother on Saturday."She's upset. She's
distressed," Green said. "She has faith in God, but just like any
mother would be, she is broken-hearted right now." Watch The Video | Images
The
Metro Church congregation prayed for Nadia and her family on Sunday.
Her former Sunday school teachers shared a little more about the girl
who
has become a familiar face on the news and on fliers around town."She's
pretty independent," Robert Meeks said. "She gets focused on a certain
thought process and she gets pretty determined."
Nadia is autistic. Her family said she's funny and bright.Jill
Morrison, the mother of two high-functioning autistic twin boys, said
she has a hard time just thinking about a child missing and alone."It
brings it home for me, because the danger is there for everyone,"
Morrison said. "It hurts more because it is an autistic child because I
have autistic children, but it's just as gut-wrenching if it is a
regularly, typically developing child."Saturday night, a candlelight vigil was held for Nadia at Lawton Elementary School.More
than 150 people from multiple Florida agencies continued searching for
the girl Sunday afternoon. Since Friday afternoon, they've combed
through almost 6 miles of the Black Hammock area near Lake Jesup.Police
said they don't suspect any foul play in the girl's disappearance. They
said all of the information they have leads them to believe that Nadia
possibly wandered into the woods after riding her bike."We have
no scene," said Winter Springs Police Department Chief Kevin Brunelle.
"Typically you have something to go on. Right now, we have nothing to
go on … We can go one way or the other with this investigation."Nadia
is 5 feet tall and weighs 85 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.
Police said she was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt and blue
shorts, and she was carrying a black backpack with a horse on it.Anyone

upright, with the kickstand down and her helmet on the handlebars, but
the girl was nowhere to be found.Nadia and her family attended a
service at Metro Church in Winter Springs just last Sunday. This week,
they were noticeably missing.

Police said she was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt and blue
shorts, and she was carrying a black backpack with a horse on it.Anyone
with information should contact the Florida Department of Law
Enforcement Tip Line at 866-282-0672, the Winter Springs Police
Department at 407-327-1000 or 911.

I may have missed it, but have the said if Nadia was high-functioning? She must have been if they let her go bike riding by herself...
I'm extremely worried for her, I hope they find her soon.

Re: NADIA BLOOM - 11 yo - Winter Springs FL
The street where 11-year-old Nadia Morgan Bloom vanished overlooks two
ponds and a vast swampy forest.
On Sunday, trained search teams and dozens of law-enforcement officers
navigated the rugged terrain with the help of dogs,
ATVs and an amphibious vehicle straight out of a James Bond movie.
By the end of the day, however, all their labors had failed to find
Nadia.
Guided by her younger sister, rescuers left bottled water at places in
the woods, along with notes urging her — if she finds them — to wait
there for help.
Clues and tips to a Florida Department of Law Enforcement hot line were
few. But searchers vowed to resume at first light.
"Until we get something that tells us otherwise, we're not going to give
up," said Winter
Springs police Chief Kevin Brunelle, whose agency is leading the
rescue effort. "When it comes to the well-being of another human being,
we're not going to establish a timeline."
Nadia was last seen riding her bicycle about 3:15 p.m. Friday in her
gated neighborhood, Barrington Estates, off State Road 434. Her mother
called police when she found her daughter's bicycle at the end of their
street, Wescott Loop. The kickstand was down, and her helmet was on the
handlebars.
The missing girl's sister told officers that Nadia had been reading
recently about survival in the woods and may have wandered off the road
with the idea of making a nature video, Brunelle said Sunday night.
"She has been able to provide us with some information that actually
still gives us some hope," Brunelle said. "It's about what Nadia has
done, about what she might be doing."
But the leafy green trees conceal acres of knee-deep mud, heavy
thickets, thorns and snakes that stretch to the southern shore of
alligator-infested Lake Jesup. Evidence of wild pigs also has been
found, said Kim LaFrance of Osceola K-9 Search and Rescue, a St.
Cloud-based nonprofit.
At Sunday services at Metro Church in Winter Springs, where Nadia's
family attends, the Rev. Randy Green asked members to pray for the
girl's safe return. Green described Nadia as "just a real sweet little
gal" who went to Bible school at the church.
"We wanted the whole church to pray and notify everybody," Green said
afterward.
A prayer vigil was conducted Saturday night at Lawton Elementary in
Oviedo, where Nadia goes to school. A team of crisis counselors and
psychologists will be at the school this morning to meet with students,
parents and teachers, Seminole
County schools Superintendent Bill Vogel said.
Other local churches had prayer vigils as well.
Winter Springs police have help from every law-enforcement agency in
Seminole County and some from beyond, including the Florida Department
of Law Enforcement's Child Abuse Response Team. The team consists of
officers from several agencies.
Officers have canvassed the more than 100 homes in the well-kept
subdivision and interviewed all residents, Brunelle said. No one saw
anything out of the ordinary, he said.
Investigators have visited convicted sex offenders who live nearby to
question them about Nadia's disappearance. They also intend to contact
all sex offenders in Seminole County, people charged with sex offenses
who haven't gone to trial and people on probation for sex offenses,
Brunelle said.
As is standard in such investigations, Nadia's parents, Jeff and Tanya
Bloom, have been questioned. The couple, who have a younger daughter and
a newborn, have been very cooperative, the chief said. They have
declined to speak publicly about the disappearance.
Police said Nadia has Asperger
syndrome, an autism-related disorder. Its symptoms can include
limited interests or an unusual preoccupation with a particular subject,
repetitive routines or rituals, odd speech patterns, social
difficulties, clumsiness and inappropriate gestures and facial
expressions.
Because of her condition, rescuers are proceeding cautiously. Asperger
children tend to be attracted to light and water, said Joe St. Cyr of
Florida-3 Airboat Search & Rescue in Hillsborough County. Also,
heat, the darkness of night, unfamiliar surroundings and hunger or
thirst can affect any child's behavior.
"When you're dealing with a child that has any type of mental
disability, that can affect their thinking," St. Cyr said. "We need to
be very careful."
Police have used community volunteers to distribute fliers with Nadia's
picture on them, but they are relying on dozens of trained volunteers
and professionals to comb woods, neighborhood and ponds in about a
six-mile radius.
One reason is safety. Another is that some dogs are trained to sniff out
any person in a specific area, and unauthorized rescuers would
interfere with those searches.
About 30 dog teams — some trained to find live people, some that sniff
out cadavers — have been combing the neighborhood and woods beyond the
cul-de-sac. The job requires special clothing to protect rescuers from
the rough terrain.
LaFrance used Nadia's toothbrush Sunday to give her black Labrador
retriever, Duncan, a scent to seek. Dogs work for a half-hour at a time,
then rest.
"They're giving it their all," LaFrance said. "It's like an athlete
sprinting for 30 minutes."
A Seminole sheriff's helicopter helped. But it can't see into the dense
woods or into a gully in the woods estimated to be as much as 30 feet
deep. Searchers must navigate the landscape on foot.
Meanwhile, dive teams explored at least two retention ponds at the edge
of Barrington Estates — one with a sign warning people not to swim
because of alligators.
An amphibious vehicle called a Hydratrek used sonar to double-check the
pitch-black water that is 15 feet deep in one pond. Searchers have
inspected drainage pipes and culverts, too.
Divers planned to search another pond in the woods that's popular with
kids.
Everyone is doing everything possible to bring Nadia home, Brunelle
said.
"Joe [St. Cyr] said it best: We have to plan for the worst and hope for
the best," he said.
Anyone with information about Nadia can call the Florida Department of

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. --
The search for a missing 11-year-old girl has
focused on wooded areas over the weekend and into Monday, thanks to a
tip from the girl's sister.Rescuers searched the woods near Nadia
Bloom's home in Winter Springs because her sister said Nadia was
recently reading a book about wilderness exploration and may have
wandered into the woods. The new information gave investigators
optimism that they will find Nadia safe, but during a news conference
Monday morning, Winter Springs Police Department Chief Kevin Brunelle
said the search so far has turned up nothing. No clothing or any other
items have been recovered. Video | Images
"It keeps me hopeful, and a lot of the searchers I've
talked with are hopeful. Even though we understand the length and we
understand the conditions, we need to maintain a positive outlook on
it," Brunelle said.Brunelle said during the news conference that
until his experts tell him otherwise, he and his team are continuing a
live search.Overnight Sunday, Seminole County alert helicopters
patrolled for any sign of Nadia. The helicopters are equipped with heat
sensors, but Brunelle said they detected no movement except deer and
other animals.Crews will expand their search Monday near Black
Hammock Trail and Lake Jessup in light of the new lead.Thirty
police dogs, amphibious vehicles, divers and officers on the ground are
looking for the autistic girl who disappeared late last week. Nadia is 5
feet tall and weighs 85 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.
Police said she was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt and blue shorts,
and she was carrying a black backpack with a horse on it.
"I'm really sad because she's my friend and I've known her for a really long
time, and I really hope that we find her," friend Sophia Sarabasa said. The
Metro Church congregation prayed for Nadia and her family on Sunday.
Her former Sunday school teachers shared a little more about the girl,
who has become a familiar face on the news and on fliers around town."She's
pretty independent," Robert Meeks said. "She gets focused on a certain
thought process and she gets pretty determined."
Crisis counselors will be at Nadia's school, Lawton Elementary School,
Monday helping students cope."I just pray every minute that they
come out of the woods with Nadia," parent Linda Sarabasa said.Brunelle
said during the news conference that the next phase of the search will
continue with dog teams, authorities will compile and review all the
information so far that they have obtained and authorities will continue
to check sex offender and sexual predator Web sites county-wide.It
was earlier reported that Nadia may have a survival manual with her,
but Brunelle said Monday morning that authorities now know the book she
has is called "Meet Lanie Holland," which is part of the American Girl
series. The book explores a love of nature and science.Anyone
with information should contact the Florida Department of Law
Enforcement Tip Line at 866-282-0672, the Winter Springs Police
Department at 407-327-1000 or 911.

Re: NADIA BLOOM - 11 yo - Winter Springs FL
The amount of sex offenders in the area in unbelievable. Why are these people not in jail....I know that they have interviewed all 100 of them, but it is always a possibility. I dont want to think that way, but it's happened before where they have interviewed them and the sex offender still has had the child....hoping and praying that this is not the case.
