Tucker GA ---- The Dekalb County Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of
Investigation are looking for Evan Luangsombath, an Asian male, 3 years
of age, DOB 06/30/06, 36' inches tall, weighing 30 lbs, with brown
eyes, black short hair, last seen wearing blue jeans and a blue hooded
jacket.



On 4/13/10 at 09:30 AM, Evan Luangsombath was last seen at the First
Baptist Church of Tucker located at 5703 LaVista Road, Tucker, Georgia
and is believed to be in extreme danger.

Evan Luangsombath was abducted by Jeffery Roger Strickland, a white
male, 45 years of age, DOB 01/31/1965, 5'9” tall, weighing 185 lbs,
brown eyes, brown short hair.

Evan Luangsombath and Jeffery Roger Strickland may be traveling in a
2003 tan Toyota Sienna mini-van, GA Tag #AZZ 8605. The vehicle's
direction of travel is unknown.

There is a nationwide search for a missing 3-year-old boy from
Georgia. Family members said the child's uncle failed to drop him
off at daycare Tuesday morning. A nationwide Amber Alert, known
as a Levi's Call in Georgia, has been issued for 3-year-old Evan
Luangsobath. Police said the little boy was taken from a
Doraville home by his uncle Jeffery Strickland -- who neighbors describe
as having mental problems. Luangsobath's family let Strickland
baby-sit the boy a couple of times a week. But on Tuesday morning
the 45-year-old never dropped the 3-year-old off at a Tucker church
daycare. Highway message signs told drivers to keep a lookout for
Luangsobath and Strickland and the tan Toyota mini-van they are thought
to be traveling in. While neighbors and family members don't
think Strickland would physically harm the 3-year-old, police said the
child won't be safe until he is back with his parents. Officers
believe Strickland may be in a tan Toyota Sienna with Georgia tag
AZZ-8605.

Luangsobath was found at the home of his uncle, Jeffrey Strickland in
DeKalb County Thursday morning.

Police said the boy was safe and sound. Strickland left the home in the
back of a police car.

A 3-year-old DeKalb County boy missing for more than 24 hours was
found unharmed at a home at 3556 Thornwood Drive in Atlanta, according
to DeKalb County Police.
Jeffrey Strickland, the 45-year-old uncle of Evan Luangsombath,
showed up at the home at about 10:15 a.m. on Thursday. Strickland was
arrested and charged with kidnapping and interference with custody, said
police spokeswoman Mekka Parish. Strickland is in the DeKalb County
Jail.
Based on statements he gave police when he was arrested, Strickland
will undergo an evaluation of his mental capacity, Parish said.
Strickland was the child’s babysitter, but family members had described
the man as mentally unstable.
Evan was reported missing when Strickland failed to drop off the boy
at daycare at Tucker First Baptist Church, police said.

A Lawrenceville boy and his uncle who had been missing since Tuesday
showed up Thursday morning at a home in DeKalb
County, police said. The boy, Evan Luangsombath, was unhurt, DeKalb
police spokesman Jason Gagnon said. The uncle was arrested and will be
charged with kidnapping, police said.
Evan told police that the uncle, Jeffery Strickland, had taken him to
Florida to the beach to get ice cream. Paramedics were called to check
the child, but police said he was fine. He left the house with his
parents around 11 a.m.
DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said Strickland would be
charged with kidnapping and interference with custody and would be given
a mental evaluation. A statewide alert was issued for the pair early
Thursday morning.
Parish said that about 10 a.m., Strickland returned to his home near
Doraville with the child.
DeKalb police officers who were already canvassing the area were sent
to the house on Thornebrook Drive.
"They approached him and he did identify himself, and at that point
he was taken into custody without incident," Parish said.
She said Strickland "made statements to detectives that the child
wanted to go to Florida, so he took the child to the beach and
returned."
Neighbor Bette Hansen said Evan "looked sleepy" as he and his uncle
drove up to the house where the uncle lives.
She said that after Strickland was taken into custody,
Evan began
asking "all kinds of questions about what they're doing with my uncle,
why is my uncle in the [police] car?
He's a very intelligent little boy and he wanted to know the
answers."
Hansen said Evan told her "he had fun at the beach."
She described Strickland as "really a sweet man."
Strickland and Evan "really love each other, those two," Hansen said.
"He has taken care of that little boy since he was born. He's more like
a dad to him."
Evan was last seen with Strickland on Tuesday, police said.

Strickland failed to drop the boy off at daycare at Tucker First Baptist
Church in DeKalb Tuesday morning.
