QUEENS FATHER ARRAIGNED IN MURDER OF SEVEN-MONTH-OLD SON
Ninth Baby In Borough To Be Seriously Beaten Or Killed Within Five Months
Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown announced today that a 20-year-old Queens man has
been charged with second-degree murder for allegedly punching and causing the death of his seven month old
son in the chest because the baby had been crying. The child was taken to New York Hospital Queens
last night where he was pronounced dead.
District Attorney Brown said, “This is, sadly, the ninth incident that we have seen in Queens County
within the last five months in which a caregiver is accused of violently assaulting and, or, killing a child,
and it ironically comes right on the heels of April being National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The
fragility of a small child cannot be emphasized enough. There is no excuse for these senseless attacks. The
defendants in these cases must be severely punished.”
The District Attorney identified today’s defendant as Larry Greene, 20, of 194-57 115th Drive in the
St. Albans section of Queens. Greene was arraigned late this afternoon in Queens Criminal Court on charges
of second-degree murder. Greene, who faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted, was ordered held without
bail and to return to court on April 26, 2010.
The District Attorney said that, according to the charges, at approximately 5:30 p.m. on April 13,
2010, Greene was babysitting for his seven-month-old son, Xiah Greene, while the infant’s mother,
Cassandra Nadi, 17, left to go to school.
It is alleged that the Xiah began to cry when his mother left the
house and Greene became angry because he believed the baby preferred her to him. He then allegedly told
the baby to “toughen up” and then forcefully punched his son in the chest, at which time the baby stopped
breathing. Thereafter, Green took the baby to New York Hospital Queens where he initially told doctors
he dropped the baby. The baby was pronounced dead later that night. An exam by the Office of the Chief
Medical Examiner revealed that the child suffered a number of injuries –including bruising on the scalp and
neck, an abrasion on his lip and a cluster of five bruises on his chest consistent with knuckle marks.

Tom I'm going out of my mind reading about these poor babies every day. It's the same story over and over. Ill equipped teenagers who seem to think it's fashionable to get pregnant as soon as you have a boyfriend. They are only children themselves and have no clue about caring for a baby, nor the money to do so. The community should be up in arms about this and demand these kids be educated at school about it from an early age. They should all be made to read every single case every day on a site like this or wherever accessible, to drill it into them that this has to stop. Maybe we should contact the schools and invite them to have their students read our murdered and abused childrens threads. Obviously in most cases these teenagers are not learning about responsible sex or discouraging them from making the stupid choice to have a baby so young. The schools should go on at least one visit each year from the time the kids are 12 to the local prison to meet the hundreds of young offenders who have killed their child and ruined their lives. Schools need to take up the slack because these kids parents clearly don't worry about it.

Jealous Dad Killed Baby Son For Loving Mom More
New York City : NY : USA | Apr 15, 2010 BY RaulDeSouza
A Queens dad is charged with beating his infant son to death because the child "preferred his mother." Larry Green reportedly yelled "Toughen up" as he punched his 7-month-old, Xiah, in the chest. Xiah died soon after. "We're grieving right now," the child's grandfather tells the Daily News.
Greene initially told Xiah's mother that the baby "fell," but later confessed to police. He now faces up to 25 years in jail on charges of second-degree manslaughter. Xiah was found with bruises to his scalp, neck, and chest. "There is no excuse for these senseless attacks," a local prosecutor says.

12 years for slaying infant son
OCTOBER 25, 2011 | BROOKLYN COLLEGE
By SCOTT JASPEN
A Queens man who killed his 7-month-old son with a single blow was sentenced Tuesday to 12 years in prison at State Supreme Court in Kew Gardens.
Larry Greene, 22, had pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the first degree for dealing a deathblow to the chest of his son, Xiah, who was pronounced dead at Queens Hospital Center on April 13, 2010.
“I can only hope that you feel the pain of that child every day for the rest of your life,” Acting State Supreme Court Justice Robert C. McGann said. “It is a sentence that I can’t officially pronounce.”
Greene did not show any sign of emotion at the sentencing and declined to make a statement to the judge. The prosecutors charged him with yelling “Toughen up!” to the child and punching him because he would not stop crying.
“That one blow ended all of the child’s future,” Assistant District Attorney Marjory Fisher, chief of the Queens District Attorney’s Special Victims Bureau, said.
There were alleged signs of previous abuse on the child, but the cause of the injury was not confirmed, according to the prosecutor.
“My client only takes responsibility for the one blow that ended the child’s life,” defense attorney Ronald Steven Nir said.
