Re: MARIJA MIKALONIS - 14 yo - Stockton CA
Police are searching for a 14-year-old McNair
High School student who has been reported missing since Friday.
Marija Mikalonis is described as white, between 5
feet 3 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall, 140 pounds, with blue eyes and
brown hair. She was last seen wearing a multicolored skirt, an orange
shirt and white sandals.
Family members said Mikalonis is a freshman at McNair High who has few friends and usually
goes straight to her Claridge Lane home after school. The family does
not believe she would run away.
She did not come home from school after
attending all her classes Friday and has not been seen or heard from
since, her uncle Justin Kerlin said.
"We don't know what's going on, because everything for her at home has been very
copacetic," Kerlin said. "She was excited about going to the movies this
weekend and excited about a swim class she was supposed to start at
school (Monday)."
Officer Pete Smith said Stockton police did not consider Mikalonis at risk Friday. On Monday,
police received information that Mikalonis was seen by a school employee
hitchhiking on Eight Mile Road near Highway 99.
"The fact that she was seen engaging in dangerous
activity like hitchhiking elevated this to an at-risk case," Smith said.
Kerlin said hitchhiking is "very unlike Marija."
