ZOE TOMLIN-JONES - 1 yo - Newport News VA

A Newport News man and woman have been charged with felony child neglect
after a 1-year-old girl was found with burn marks on her back, shoulders
and arms.

The mother and father were identified as Julia Liana
Tomlin, 25, and Justin Samuel Jones, 28, both of Woodall Court,
according to Holly McPherson, assistant public information officer with
the Newport News Police Department.

The child had been placed on
the stove while the parents tended to another child, and the girl fell
onto one of the burners and sustained the injuries, McPherson said.

A 1-year-old girl in Newport News was burned on a stove after being
placed there by her mother.

Newport News police have charged Julia Thomlin and Justin Jones with
felony child neglect.

Thomlin was released from Newport News City Jail around 11:30 p.m.
Tuesday night. Jones remains in the custody of the jail due to a
previous charge he had in Hampton for failing to register as a sex
offender.

Julia Thomlin took a picture of 1-year-old Zoe just moments before she
was burned on her back, shoulders, and the backs of her arms.

"It wasn't a hot stove. The stove was off. She hit her head on the stove
when I was tending to my other child, her tooth fell, and I was getting
her tooth out and he was right there but we didn't catch her in time,"
Thomlin explained.

Thomlin said the stove had been on three hours prior to the incident.

"Should have gotten the proper medical attention which I didn't because
of my house not being clean enough and I was afraid of CPS."

Thomlin and her boyfriend, 28-year-old Justin Jones, never took Zoe to
the emergency room Friday night.

"I was right there. I got her up and ran and put cold water on her and
there were no marks until the next day. I should have taken her to the
emergency room, that's my fault and because of that I have lost all my
five kids."

Thomlin says Child Protective Services took all five children away after
finding Zoe with burn marks and seeing the condition of their home
yesterday.

"I'm really upset all my kids are gone. It was a simple accident. I
don't know what I was thinking when I put her on the stove."

One-year-old Zoe was taken to the hospital yesterday where she was
treated and released. All five children are now in the custody of Child
Protective Services.

OMG this stupid woman has 5 children at 25 years old and has a sex offender for a boyfriend living with her. Single women who continue to get pregnant should have to undergo psychotherapy if they get pregnant with baby number 2 and no way should they be allowed to walk out of hospital with baby 3, 4 and 5. They should be adopted out to loving 2 parent families. She has been released from jail and is probably getting pregnant again as we speak. This has to stop.

Kiwi, I so agree with you.....I posted in another child's page who's mom has 15 children...that after baby no. 3 if they are on any kind of assistance from the government, it should be mandatory sterilization.....

and you are right, she probably is already screwing around and getting herself pregnant again....Some of these woman keep getting pregnant so their food coupons can be increased and their welfare $$$ is increased per child....That is our governments fault right there....It should not be allowed.....Makes me sick to my stomach.....
