A Jonesborough woman has been arrested on child abuse charges related to
injuries to her infant child from shaken baby syndrome, Sheriff Ed
Graybeal said today in a news release.

Jessica A. Garcia, 21, 126
Meadowview Lane, Jonesborough, was arrested after a cooperative
investigation with the Department of Children Services revealed that
Garcia's 2-month-old infant had numerous injuries related to shaken baby
syndrome, some of which had had occurred in the past few days, Graybeal
said.

DCS placed the infant in the state's custody following
four days of treatment at Johnson City Medical Center, the sheriff said.
