An Amber Alert for an 11-month-old toddler from Canton Township, Mich., was called off Monday afternoon after the little girl was recovered after a SUV flipped inside a motel parking lot on State Rt. 53 near Fremont, Ohio, involving her biological father. The Amber Alert was issued shortly after 12 noon after Ronald Cephas Scott, Jr., arrived at a Canton, Mich., daycare to pick up Raven Scott, his 11-month-old girl. According to Metro Detroit police, they issued the alert after Raven's mother found out that Scott allegedly emptied their bank accounts, packed up all his clothing, and all her clothing. State troopers located the adult suspect's vehicle traveling westbound on the Ohio Turnpike near State Rt. 53. He exited the turnpike at and stopped at a BP gas station. Troopers attempted to approach Scott once he got out of his vehicle, but he got back into his car and sped off. The car traveled across the street to the Clarion Inn parking lot. Scott lost control and flipped the car after it hit a speed bump. The vehicle overturned and struck a fence before coming to rest. Scott exited his vehicle and turned himself and the young child over to officers without incident. Neither the suspect or the child were injured in the crash. Over the weekend, Canton police were called to a house to check on a domestic-related situation. While talking to police, Scott alleged to say he wanted to do harm to himself. Scott fled with the baby in his SUV for Maryland. Police tracked Scott's movements by using cell phone signals. The child was transported to Physician's Choice Hospital in Fremont, where she will remain until being released to her mother. Scott was apprehended and is being held pending extradition back to Metro Detroit. Charges are pending.
