GABRIELLA GUTIERREZ - 14 yo - Long Beach CA
A Long Beach family is asking for help in finding a missing 14-year-old girl, who disappeared after her mother dropped her off at school on Monday and who hasn't been seen since. The family of Gabriela Gutierrez is circulating fliers and has reported the Jordan High School freshman missing to authorities, but they have gained little ground in finding the young teen.
Gabriela, who also sometimes uses her mother's last name of Diaz, was last seen by her mom when her mom dropped her daughter at Jordan High Monday morning. When Teresa Diaz returned to the school that afternoon to pick up her daughter, Gabriela was no where to be found, said her uncle, Robert Gutierrez."She did this once before," her uncle said, noting his niece ran away to a friend's home about a month ago."But she came home right away," he said, speaking on behalf of Gabriela's mother, who is not fluent in English. "We were hoping that was what she would do this time, but that hasn't happened."He noted that she had wanted to go trick-or-treating with a boy on Halloween, and that he told her it was OK but only if she brought the boy home to meet her uncle. When she called the boy and told him he refused, her uncle said."Maybe she's with this boy, I don't know."Gutierrez added that one of Gabriela's aunts called Gabriela's cell phone and a male answered. When she questioned why he had her niece's cell phone, the boy or man claimed the phone was given to him, then hung up.The family tried to trace the call through their cell phone network, but the company told Gabriela's family that whoever had the phone had completely shut it down and they couldn't trace its location.A friend of Gabriela's went on the girl's Facebook page and saw a message Gabriela sent to another student at Jordan saying she would meet her "at the laundry," but there was no name or address, Gutierrez said.Gutierrez said that when the girl's family went to her school, they learned she was cutting classes with friends and was supposed to board a bus to go to another location on Monday for detention."She never got on the bus," he said.A missing person's report was filed with the Long Beach Police Department earlier this week, though it was not classified a critical missing case, said Lisa Massacani, an LBPD spokeswoman."Critical missing cases are usually someone who is disabled, on medications, or who has never run away or disappeared before," she explained.Massacani, however, added that Gabriela's case could be updated to critical missing status. Her family is hoping that will be the case and is desperately hoping someone in the community might have seen her, or a friend may know where she is, and let her know they want her to come home."It's been almost a week, we're very worried," said her uncle.Gabriela, who also goes by Gabby, is described as Hispanic, about five-feet, four-inches tall and 180 pounds with long brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing blue denim shorts and a dark blue blouse with tennis shoes.Anyone with information about Gabriel's whereabouts is urged to call 911 or the Long Beach Police Department, at 562-435-6711.Those with information can also call the girl's family at any of the following numbers; 562-307-1247; 562-307-1246; 562-843-4700; 562-422-5442.

LONG BEACH - A 14-year-old Jordan High School student who vanished after her mother dropped her off at school last Monday was reunited with her family this weekend, police said Tuesday.Gabriela Gutierrez was returned to her family on Sunday after a friend's parent in Los Angeles called Gabriela's family to tell them she was with them, said Nancy Pratt, a Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman."We weren't immediately notified that Gabriela was back home because her case not classified as critical missing," Pratt explained. The girl's disappearance was not deemed critical because she had run away from home before, though her week-long absence this time had her family terrified. The Jordan freshman was one of three people reported missing in the past week, and the other two individuals - both deemed critical missing cases - have yet to be found, Pratt added.Miguel Palacios, 56, of Long Beach requires organ transplant medication to survive and also suffers from dementia.Palacios was reported missing from his home in the area of West Arbor Street and Long Beach Boulevard Saturday. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.Sarah Preston Schrock, 52, was reported missing Friday. She was visiting from out of state and staying with a relative in the 400 block of East Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach when she left the home to go for a walk Thursday and never returned.http://www.presstelegram.com/rss/ci_16575657?source=rss
