COLORADO CITY — The Colorado City police chief said his department has attempted three times to get an Amber Alert issued for Hailey Dunn, a 13-year-old middle school student who was reported missing Dec. 28, but the requests have been denied.

“In each of the three requests, we’ve been told that there is not enough information currently available about Hailey’s disappearance to issue an Amber Alert,” Police Chief John Bivens said. “The minimum standard for creating an Amber Alert is knowledge of a suspect, a description of a vehicle involved in an abduction, and/or a route and direction of travel.”

Bivens said the department will continue to pursue issuance of an alert with each new piece of evidence uncovered.

On Friday, bloodhounds were taken to the six motels in Colorado City. At Western Suites, which is located at 2233 Vine Street and is adjacent to Interstate 20 and near the Dunn home, the dogs picked up on Dunn’s scent in the parking lot, City Manager Pete Kampfer said Tuesday night.

The scent led to a door of a ground-floor room at the two-level motel that opened in July, he said, but there the trail stopped. A search of the 24 suites produced no other evidence, he said.

Cristie Roye, manager of Western Suites, said police studied surveillance tapes but did not see the missing teen. Motel staff, she said, did not recall seeing the teenager, either.

A copy of the missing person flyer distributed throughout the city was posted on the office door.

Kampfer also said Tuesday that the reward for information leading to the whereabouts of the teenager had grown past $10,000 but has not yet reached the $25,000 figure that was prematurely announced earlier in the day.

Dunn’s disappearance was featured Tuesday on the television show “Nancy Grace.”

There have been few clues in the disappearance of a 13 year old Colorado City girl since she vanished 8 days ago.

For the second straight night, the case was featured on National TV, and some explosive details were released in the case.

Among them, Hailey Dunn may have been at a motel near her home and the boyfriend of Hailey's mother, who was the last person to see her, will meet with investigators on Wednesday.

Investigators have confirmed little about just what's taking place in the search for Hailey Dunn.

Hailey's mother Billie Dunn, on the other hand, revealed quite a bit about the investigation on the Nancy Grace program on HLN on Tuesday. Including new information not yet confirmed by authorities.

Dunn reports bloodhounds were able to track Hailey's scent from her neighborhood to the nearby Western Suites Motel.

Dunn says investigators are reviewing surveillance video from the motel.

The last person to reportedly see Hailey alive was her mother's boyfriend, Shawn Adkins.

According to HLN, Shawn Adkins is scheduled to take a polygraph test as early as Wednesday morning.

Billie Dunn reported that police have seized both Adkins' cell phone and her own.

She says any calls Hailey would have made the day she went missing would have been from Dunn's cell phone.

The phone Dunn says she hopes will lead to her daughter's whereabouts.

Shawn Adkins, the last person to speak to Hailey Dunn before she disappeared, has been taken in for a polygraph test.

The Texas Rangers escorted Adkins into the Colorado City law enforcement center at 10:45 a.m.

Searchers check wooded areas of town



Searchers from Texas Department of Criminal Justice Wallace/Ware units were out on horseback and foot today looking for possible clues to the disappearance of Hailey Dunn.

TDCJ officers searched a heavily wooded area on the western edge of town Wednesday morning, January 6, according to TDCJ Warden Matt Kennolly.

The search along the Colorado River continued after lunch on foot along Colorado City's southern edge from the prison to Business I-20 toward town.

The search was made at the request of the Texas Rangers, who are working with local law enforcement agencies.

The multi-agency task force have set up an operations outpost in the Mitchell County courthouse.

Colorado City- The investigation continues into the search for Hailey Dunn.

The Texas Rangers and Colorado Police have searched the home of Dunn; they checked the backyard, the shed, and Dunn’s room.

The Rangers were seen carrying bags to their cars.

Billy Jean Dunn tells CBS 7 that her boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, has been given a polygraph exam.

Authorities are also searching the phone records of the Hailey’s mother and her mother’s boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, and looking over recent calls.

Several residents are upset and are critical of the time lapse between when Hailey went missing and the investigation.

Several law enforcement officials including DPS, Colorado City Police, and officials from Snyder are investigating.

Even civilians from Forsan are doing their own investigation.

Why is there no mention of the polygraph results in any articles. No point in just saying he's taken it and not commenting on the outcome! Dunn tells a reporter that her boyfriend has taken the test and surely if he passed she would have said so.

Several people have taken lie detector tests in Colorado City today, as investigators try to rule out suspects in the disappearance of 13-year-old Hailey Dunn.

Shawn Adkins, the boyfriend of Dunn's mother and last person to talk to Hailey, went in for a polygraph around 10 a.m. and was still with investigators from the Texas Rangers at 2 p.m.

Report: Boyfriend Refused Polygraph Tests in Dunn Case

New reports are surfacing that the boyfriend of Hailey Dunn's mother has refused to take polygraph tests pertaining to the disappearance of the missing 13 year old.
Hailey’s older brother, David Dunn, told a crew from the Midland CBS affiliate that Shawn Adkins had refused to take two polygraph tests Wednesday. According to David, Adkins signed the paperwork to take a third but then refused to take it and left the building.

CBS 7 reports the Dunn family had not seen Adkins since he was escorted to an undisclosed location Wednesday to take those tests.

Law enforcement is remaining tight lipped about where Adkins is and whether the tests were ever taken.

Late Wednesday, Hailey's mother Billy Dunn was also not home. According to family members, she may have been at the law enforcement center. It's unclear why she would've been there so late in the evening.

Earlier in the day Wednesday, Rangers searched the home occupied by Billie Dunn, Adkins, Hailey, and Hailey's brother.

A major search has been launched in Texas for a 13-year-old cheerleader who has been missing for more than a week.

Hailey Dunn, a middle school student in Colorado City, was reported missing on December 28 by her mother Billie Dunn.

She was thought to be spending the night at a nearby friend's home, but failed to return the next morning and the friend later told police she was not expecting her to stay there.

Sniffer dogs picked up the girl's scent in the car park of a motel - the Western Suites - which is next to Interstate 20 and near the family home. It led them to a ground-floor room, but no other evidence was found.

Texas Rangers spent the day combing through 13-year old Hailey Dunn's room searching for some type of lead.

"It's frustrating that it's been nine days," said Billie Dunn, Hailey's mother, "but I know that they're working hard, and they're working long hours."

But still no sign of the missing girl.

"I want Hailey to know that I just want her to walk through the door," said Dunn.

Texas Rangers also spent the day giving several polygraphs to people including Shawn Adkins, Hailey's mother's boyfriend who was the last person to see her alive.

"Those tests are going to be helpful, and the if the investigators trust them, I trust them," said Dunn.

Nine days ago, Adkins says Hailey told him she was going to her father's house, then to a friend's house down the road, but on Tuesday night's episode of the Nancy Grace SHow, it was revealed that bloodhounds, traced Hailey's scent to the Western Suites Hotel.

The Texas Rangers have yet to confirm or deny these developments being reported by family members.

On Wednesday, Texas Rangers searched the home occupied by Billie Dunn, Adkins, Hailey, and David.

Colorado City, TX— Hailey Dunn's mother says a handful of people connected to her family were told by authorities that they failed polygraph tests that have been administered over the last few days.

Billie Dunn wasn't prepared to name names. However, she told KTAB's Priscilla Luong she and her family's frustration is beginning to mount.

According to Billie Dunn, her boyfriend Shawn Adkins did take a polygraph test. After the test, he did not return to the home he shares with Billie Dunn.

Sources tell KTAB News he is not in custody and authorities are aware of his whereabouts.

Hailey’s older brother, David Dunn, told KTAB's Priscilla Luong earlier in the day Thursday that Adkins had refused to take the first two polygraph tests Wednesday. According to the Dunn family, Adkins eventually took the test.

Pete Kampfer, city manager and spokesman for Colorado City Police
Department, said this morning that Texas Rangers discontinued their foot
search for the 13-year-old girl along the Colorado River on Wednesday
and that they would begin a helicopter search this afternoon.

Hailey Dunn was last seen by her mother’s boyfriend, Shawn Adkins,
who said she told him she was going to a friend's house. The friend said
that she wasn't aware of any such plans.

"They've intensified the search since yesterday. They've confirmed some leads and are going with them today," Kampfer said.

At 8:30 a.m. today, Billie Jean Dunn -- Hailey's mother -- was inside
her home with Hailey's 16-year-old brother David and Billie Jean Dunn's
brother Dale.

David confirmed at that time that Shawn Adkins had not completed the
polygraph test that he had originally agreed to take on Wednesday.

Kampfer said he couldn't confirm any information regarding polygraph tests that may have been administered.

"Sometimes just the idea of getting a polygraph adds to the
situation," he said, referring to the general process of the polygraph
test. "What you're looking for is a confession."

Billie Jean Dunn wasn't available for comment and said she would not
speak to the media until after her phone call with TV personality Nancy
Grace this evening. Grace's show appears on CNN.

Kampfer confirmed evidence was taken from Billie Jean's home Wednesday that may have led to leads being pursued today.

Lamar Advertising has placed Hailey Dunn's photo and information on
several billboards along Interstate 20 between Abilene and Odessa.

Kampfer said strides have been made since Monday and a collection of
agents from the FBI, Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers and
local law enforcement are intensifying their focus today to conclude the
investigation.

Hailey Dunn's Mom Says She, Boyfriend Failed Polygraphs

The disappearance of Colorado City 13-year-old Hailey Dunn once again took center stage on HLN's "Nancy Grace" show Thursday evening.
Among the guests were Billie and Clint Dunn, separated parents of Hailey Dunn, and KTAB's Priscilla Luong.
According to Billie Dunn, she was questioned for 10-12 hours on Wednesday night after admittedly failing a polygraph test. Dunn explained the details of the polygraph testing on Thursday night's "Nancy Grace" broadcast.

Dunn also said that her boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, also failed his polygraph test. Since then, Adkins has left Colorado City and is now staying with his grandmother in West Texas. Dunn said she asked Adkins not to come back.

KTAB's Priscilla Luong was told earlier in the day by her sources that Dunn and Adkins failed their polygraphs.

Dunn said investigators asked her if she had caused Hailey's disappearance, and if she was afraid of answering their questions.

Hailey's father, Clint Dunn, has not taken a polygraph yet, and is not scheduled to take one at this time. He says he has volunteered to take a test.

The last portion of the interview centered around Billie Dunn's current boyfriend.
Billie told Nancy Grace she dated Shawn Adkins for two and a half years before they decided to move in together. They were living together for four months before Hailey disappeared.

According to Billie, she met Adkins on Myspace and met him in person about a month later. Hailey was not present when they first met.
Dunn told Nancy Grace that Hailey and Shawn did not get along when they first met, but that their relationship had been improving. Hailey's grandmother, Connie Jones, told KCBD this week that Hailey and Shawn did not have a good relationship.
According to Nancy Grace producers, the show may feature this case again on Monday evening.
