That trooper did everyone a disservice by opening his yapper and giving his personal opinion, which apparently has no basis in fact.

COLORADO CITY — Law enforcement officials continued to work through
the weekend to find teenager Hailey Darlene Dunn, who was reported
missing Dec. 28.
The area of focus for those searching for clues Saturday was about 15
miles north of Colorado City, near the community of Dunn. Senior
Trooper Sparky Dean said the area already had been searched from the air
by helicopter but law enforcement now was using a combination of
officers on foot, horseback and all-terrain vehicles to take a closer
look.
In what law enforcement emphasized is an unrelated incident, a
15-year-old female, who said she was in town to visit a relative,
reported Saturday morning that a Hispanic male tried to force her into a
vehicle. The alleged victim was found to be a runaway from Lubbock and
she was arrested.
Senior Trooper Sparky Dean of the Department of Public Safety said
“investigators believe this alleged event was not a part of the task
force investigation” of the disappearance of Hailey Dunn.
Hailey Dunn, 13, reportedly last was seen by her mother’s live-in
boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, on Dec. 27. Adkins reported he was told by the
teenager that she would be walking to her dad’s house, then spending the
night with a friend. Hailey’s dad said she did not visit him that day
and the mother of her friend, Mary Beth Garcia, said Dunn did not spend
the night in their home.
In addition to the search in the Dunn area, Dean said officers
continued a door-to-door canvass of homes in Colorado City to search for
physical evidence and information regarding the girl’s disappearance.
The search included garages and sheds, he said, to try to find “a Hailey
that’s hiding.”
Authorities have not ruled out that Hailey ran away, and they have not found evidence of criminal activity.
“We haven’t found that smoking gun, that bloody knife,” Dean said.
Law enforcement’s goal for the weekend, he said, is to continue to
chase leads. Those leads are coming in a variety of ways, he said.
A tip line set up for the missing teen said gotten an average of 30
calls per day according to City Manager Pete Kampfer, who has acted as a
spokesman for the Colorado City Police Department. In addition,
plainclothes officers have gathered information from residents, and land
searches have turned up other information, he said
Adkins has family members who live in Dunn and although some
community members want to link the search in that area to Billie Jean
Dunn’s boyfriend, Dean said he could not confirm a connection.
“Everybody’s a suspect, and nobody’s a suspect,” he said.
Dean said the search in Dunn will most likely be wrapped up today,
but law enforcement will carry on with searches in any area they believe
could yield a discovery.
“No Sunday church for us,” Kampfer said.
Dean said since there has been no evidence of foul play or criminal
activity, he still has hope of finding Hailey alive. A big obstacle, he
said, are witnesses who have been deceptive in their answers.
Kampfer and Dean estimated that approximately 25 square miles of
Colorado City have been searched, in addition to 6 square miles in Dunn.
In addition the searches being done by law enforcement, residents
took up a search of their own Friday afternoon, which continued into
Saturday.
Colorado City resident Stephanie Boyd organized Friday’s search and her cousin, Bubba Limones, continued the search Saturday.
Limones, who works for Colorado City Independent School District’s
technology department, said approximately 200 people gathered at 9 a.m.
to search for clues on foot and by Saturday evening, the group had
covered all of Mitchell County.
“We’ve lived here our whole lives,” he said of himself and Boyd. “We just care about this town and about each other.”

Hailey Dunn's Father Speaks Out
COLORADO CITY - Two weeks and counting, there's still no sign of 13-year-old Hailey Dunn. She disappeared a few days after Christmas and one person we haven't heard much from during this whole ordeal is Hailey's father. Now he's speaking out hoping someone, somewhere, knows something about his daughter.
"I don't want the public to forget about Hailey's search because someone's got her, I don't want no one to forget that," Hailey's Father, Clint Dunn, said.
It's the first time since Hailey's disappearance Clint Dunn has addressed the media. His goal is to let everyone know that as time passes not to give up on finding his daughter.
"Were gonna keep it going, it's only going to keep getting bigger. I'm gonna make sure of that, I'm not gonna quit searching. I'm doing everything I can and make it bigger until she is found," Dunn said.
Clint says he will be as active as he can in Hailey's rescue efforts. "I hope she is safe and scared to come out. It's not like her, she is beautiful child, I'm more scared with each night that goes by," Dunn said.
And no matter how long it takes, Clint has no plans to let things fall by the way side. "I'm not giving up, I have dedicated my life, this is all we are doing. I will do this for the rest of my life until I find my daughter," Dunn said.
Although Clint lives in Snyder everyday sun up and sun down he's doing all he can to help bring Hailey home.

Mother of Missing Teen Hailey Dunn Fails Polygraph
http://thenewsportalonline.com/mother-of-missing-teen-hailey-dunn-fails-polygraph/118319/
The mother of Hailey Dunn and her live in boyfriend have both failed polygraph tests. Dunn went missing on December 27th and has not been seen since.
The mother, Billie Dunn, said she decided to take the polygraph after her boyfriend failed the test, one Shawn Adkins.
After his failure she asked him to leave her home but then continued to fail her own test after she was unable to answer several questions.

A twist has risen in the story of Hailey Dunn, the
13-year-old girl missing in Texas. State Troopers now believe the
missing girl is in hiding. This comes as a rather shocking change in a
disappearance that, until today, was believed to be an abduction. When
Senior Department of Public Safety Trooper Sparky Dean and Pete
Kampfer, city manager for Colorado City, met with sixth graders this
morning to discuss the girl's disappearance, they made statements that shed new light. Trooper Dean asked the students if they had any knowledge of Hailey's whereabouts.Dean
told the students he is confident that Hailey is alive but in hiding.
After the meeting, the two men were given the names of two girls who had
been asked general questions before in the investigation.Dean
said the two girls would be interviewed again to help determine where
Hailey might be found. “I kind of feel like we’re playing hide-and-seek
with no boundaries,” Dean said. In true trooper fashion, he went on to
say, “We’re all here for Hailey, and we’re going to find Hailey.”Hailey Dunn left her home last December 27 and disappeared. A large search effort has been ongoing since that time. Conflicting stories
from her mother and stepfather have led to much speculation, which
captured the attention of everyone in her town of Colorado City, Texas.
If she is, in fact, hiding--there will be a lot of speculation as to
why. Already the stepfather has raised some eyebrows, because he was the
last one to talk to her.It is hard to believe she is in hiding
in Colorado City. It is a small West Texas town where there are very few
secrets, and someone should have noticed her. One would think she
almost certainly has to have an adult's help to have stayed hidden this
long. Hopefully, the law is not wrong in their assumptions. Hailey Dunn,
if you are out here, contact authorities. If there is trouble at home,
there is always help available to rescue you.http://news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978901010
This statement leads me to believe they think Hailey's aunt is involved in helping to hide her. There is alot more going on in this case than we know.

Nancy Grace and Billie Jo Dunn
On the Nancy Grace Show, we did have, towards the end of the show, a concerning statement.
Nancy Grace reported that police are stating that the missing 13 year old girl is in hiding and is alive. This is apparently based upon one witness who thinks he saw Hailey and two girls on either Sunday or Monday. This is weak.

Dunn's Parents Under Scrutiny
With the statement made over the weekend that Hailey Dunn's family is frustrating investigators, focus has fallen on Billie Dunn and Clint Dunn, Hailey's parents.
On Monday, Billie spoke out against some of the people who have been pointing the finger at her and her family regarding Hailey's disappearance.
“It’s completely ridiculous how people who don’t know me judge me or my home life or the way I parent," Dunn told KTAB's Victor Sotelo. "I feel like I’m a wonderful mom. Although I lost my daughter, I did the best I could and I will continue to do so.”
During Monday night's broadcast on HLN, Nancy Grace asked Billie Dunn if she took drugs prior to her polygraph tests and if that might have caused the "inconsistencies."
On the issue of inconsistent statements, Grace asked Hailey's mother Billie exactly what was inconsistent about the statements she made to authorities.
"I don't know," Dunn said. "I asked one of the Rangers about that and he's supposed to be getting back to me."
WOAI News Radio reporter Michael Board said investigators feel some of the witnesses may not be credible due to a history of drug use.

UPDATE: Anything is Possible, Haley's Mom Says
4 p.m. Update:
The FBI is now involved in the releasing of information on the disappearance of Hailey Dunn to the public. Investigators in Colorado City spent the day following up on leads.
"Anything could have happened to her," mother Billie Dunn said today. "Anything could be a possibility at this point."
Following last night's Nancy Grace show on HLN, it appeared the Dunns and investigators weren't on the same page. Law enforcement now says it will try to do a better job communicating with the Dunn family. Hailey's case will again be featured this evening on Nancy Grace.
Noon Update:
KTAB's Priscilla Luong reports a fairly quiet day Tuesday in Colorado City in the search for Hailey Dunn.
Nancy Grace is expected to discuss Hailey's case again Tuesday evening during her broadcast on HLN.

Billie Dunn Admits It's Possible Adkins Could Be Involved In Hailey's Disappearance
COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Hailey Dunn's mother, Billie Jean Dunn, told KTXS on Tuesday that she now accepts the possibility that her former live-in boyfriend Shawn Adkins could be involved in the disappearance of her daughter.
After adamantly defending Adkins for two weeks, Billie Dunn said Tuesday for the first time that it is possible that Adkins had something to do with Hailey's disappearance.
She stressed, however, that no one knows for certain – and that she was not accusing him of anything.
Adkins is believed to be the last person to have seen the 13-year-old Hailey, a Colorado Middle School eighth-grader.
Adkins reported that Hailey told him on Dec. 27 that she was going to spend the night with a friend – but she never made it to the friend's house. She was reported missing the next day after her mother discovered she didn't spend the night there.
"I never thought he would hurt Hailey, or had anything to do with this," Billie Dunn said, "until it was pounded in my head that that was a possibility. Nobody knows, though."
Dunn said she hasn't spoken to Adkins recently but occasionally communicates with him through text messages.

There seems to be a lot of emphasis on drugs now which is painting a bad picture. Especially the quote that an investigator said some of the witnesses may not be credible due to a history of drug use. This too might be an exaggeration if all they do is smoke marijuana. On the other hand if serious drugs and drug dealers are involved in the story then let's hear about it.

holy cow -
During his polygraph examination, before walking out, Adkins provided some positive reaction about knowing where Hailey Dunn is. Indications were that Hailey may be in Scurry County.
– Adkins and Billie Dunn made two withdrawals of cash from an ATM machine in Snyder, in Scurry County, at about 6:20 p.m. on Dec. 27 totaling $140. They told investigators the money was for purchasing drugs.
Nevertheless, Adkins left his place of employment at 6:10 a.m. on the morning of Dec. 27 and told investigators that he went straight to his mother’s house in Big Spring. However, cell phone records indicate that Adkins’ cell phone was in contact with cell towers in Scurry County from 6:35 a.m. until 6:56 a.m., during the time when he said he was traveling to Big Spring.
Billie Dunn left for work at 6:20 a.m. on Dec. 27, and authorities said her cell phone was also in contact with the same cell tower during the same time period.
On the afternoon of Dec. 27 at about 4 p.m., Hailey’s brother David returned home.
According to his father, Clint Dunn, David arrived about 4 p.m. and pounded on the front door for about five minutes, and no one would let him in the door.
David then let himself into the house through a window, where David said he saw Adkins in a hallway with a “deer in the headlights look.”

Investigators Shift Through Sordid Reading List Of Billie Dunn, Adkins
By Merlin Mann, KTXS News

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Billie Dunn and Shawn Adkins apparently had an unusual, if not sordid, reading list.
During the investigation into the disappearance of 13-year-old Hailey Dunn, authorities confiscated 278 pages of material printed from websites about several lurid topics, from mass murder to sex and death.
Billie Dunn described the material as a "hobby."
According to affidavits secured by KTXS through the Freedom of Information Act, authorities found the materials in a box in the bedroom shared by Billie Dunn and Adkins.
The affidavits also detailed witness accounts who said that Adkins was fascinated by horror/slasher films, and it is reported that he is a collector of movie memorabilia connected to the “Halloween” movie series.
The reading material in the box, according to the affidavit, contained material that Billie Dunn told authorities she had printed from a computer at her job which she brought home.
The material included 23 pages of material printed on Sept. 1 that was related to the Edmund Kemper, the so-called "Co-ed Killer." Another 20 pages printed on the same date was related to female mass murders, major cases and murder motives.
Another 18 pages was related to George Emil Banks, who killed five of his own children and went on a broader killing spree.
Another 13 pages were printed on Sept. 25 about Robert Leroy Anderson, a serial killer and sexual sadist. Another 37 pages were printed related to Robert Pickton, a Canadian pig farmer, about mass murder and as many as 23 missing Vancouver women.
Other material in the box included a photo of a pentagram, and information about vampires and the occult.
Fifteen pages printed on Sept. 29 was material related to Alton Coleman and Debra Brown, a pair of killers in which Brown was painted as “a good girl gone bad” and incorporating sex and death.
Another 19 pages printed on the same day was related to the "Princes in the Tower," the Henry VIII murders, and the murder of family members "who were pre-pubertal and premeditated suffocation in bed."
Other material included multiple pages of material associated with the rap group Insane Clown Posse.
In total, the box contained 278 pages of material that investigators thumbed through as part of the investigation of the missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn, a Colorado Middle School eighth-grader missing since Dec. 27.
The affidavit also includes a statement from one of Hailey’s uncles, who was talking to Adkins about Hailey’s disappearance. The uncle said he could not believe that anyone would hurt a 13-year-old little girl.
The affidavit reports that Adkins replied, “Yah, it’s like killing a deer.”
The uncle recalled that Adkins often talked about how he kills deer, and then he would cut them up with a chainsaw.

Slasher Films More than Just an Interest for Adkins
More information is coming out about the violent "hobbies" of Shawn Adkins, who was the last person to see 13-year-old Hailey Dunn before she disappeared.
A family member of Dunn told investigators Adkins was obsessed with horror and slasher movies and watches them daily. Investigators confirmed he collects movie memorabilia from the "Halloween" movies.
That memorabilia may include masks of the main villain, Michael Myers, who murders teenagers in the movie series. An online profile on the website Michael-Myers.net is believed to belong to Adkins. The site shows and compares mask replicas and hosts discussion forums.

Wow, so did Mommy offer Hailey up on a plate to her boyfriend to carry out his sick fantasy or did Hailey runaway from these nutters? I hope the latter. I wouldn't blame her for not coming out of hiding if that's the case.

Billie Dunn Answers to Growing Suspicion
Billie Dunn answered tough questions this afternoon about drugs, horror movies, failed polygraphs and other startling information uncovered in court documents obtained today by Bigcountryhomepage.com.
Dunn, whose daughter has been missing since Dec. 27, said she was prescribed anti-anxiety medication, and having them in her system was why she was denied the first attempt at taking a voluntary polygraph.
An affidavit signed by Mitchell County Judge Ray Mayo described the first attempt as being prohibited because she was "under the influence of narcotics."
Dunn also showed KTAB's Priscilla Luong a bottle of prescription pain medication that she was taking for a bad tooth.
The affadavit also states that Dunn and Adkins made $140 worth of cash withdrawals on Dec. 27, and that Dunn voluntarily admitted that "the money was used to purchase illegal narcotics from a person in Scurry County, Texas" for use by Adkins and herself.

Several Persons of Interest" in Hailey Dunn Case
Investigators have several people of interests in the disappearance of Hailey Dunn, Senior DPS Trooper Sparky Dean said in an afternoon press conference in Colorado City, but would not give an exact number.
No one is being detained and Dean wouldn't label anyone as suspects.
"We're keeping a special eye on them (persons of interest)," Dean said.
Affidavits released to Bigcountryhomepage.com today focus on Billie Dunn, Hailey's mom, and Shawn Adkins, Billie's boyfriend. The documents are related to search warrants used to obtain cell phone records and access to Dunn and Adkins' joint vehicle.
Law enforcement said it's not fair to say that the investigation is focusing on the two of them specifically, and they are not classified as suspects at this time.
