Dr. Kenneth Furton took the stand this past week as the defense team’s expert to speak about Dr. Vass’s work with air samples of the trunk and the trunk carpet, as well as the ills of using cadaver dogs. I’ve now purchased the papers referenced during Dr. Furton’s testimony so that I could review them, spent countless hours reading and taking notes not only of Dr. Furton’s testimony (which I’ve now listened to three times) but from these papers, and have had to listen to about 24 hours of Baez’s incessant pen snapping so I’m about to go postal.
I originally intended to have far more respect for Dr. Furton while I was reviewing his testimony than I fear I will have in covering this multi-part analysis of his “expert” testimony. (Those quotation marks should clue you in right away to my opinion of his “expertise”.) But at this point, I don’t believe that’s going to happen.
