Casey Anthony: Sequesting jury will be major challenge

WESH-Channel 2’s Bob Kealing tonight explored how difficult it will be to sequester the Casey Anthony jury in the era of social networking. He reminded viewers that a bungled sequestration could mean a juror’s dismissal or a mistrial.
“In the old days, they used to deliver the newspaper and cut out all the bad parts, and the rest was OK,” veteran lawyer Jeff Deen told Kealing. “You don’t even know what’s OK now.”
Yeah, in the old days, most people read newspapers. No more.
Of the proposed TV channels that jurors could watch, prosecutors have objected to Lifetime and the Lifetime Move Network, Kealing noted.
WKMG-Channel 6 anchor Lauren Rowe explained the preliminary channel lineup for jurors: “No surprise — CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, most of the news channels — those will be blocked. Animal Planet, Bravo, HGTV — those were OK. So is SoapNet and Syfy. But the prosecutors have filed a formal objection to two channels, Lifetime and the Lifetime Movie Network. But they may drop the objection once they read the TV listings.” The issue could come up Wednesday at a hearing, Rowe added.
Attorney Richard Hornsby, who offers analysis for WESH, says Chief Judge Belvin Perry has to watch costs while keeping the jurors comfortable. And Hornsby sounded an alarm: “You have to wonder what these jurors might get from crazy people who are trying to influence the outcome.”
The horror, the horror. This case isn’t crazy enough?
The trial is scheduled to start in May. Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.
