SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. -- A Brevard County couple was arrested Wednesday on charges of abuse and neglect involving their 2-month-old son.

Authorities
with the Satellite Beach Police Department said Kenneth Balser, 20, and
Torrie Workman, 19, were taken to the Brevard Detention Center on
$10,000 bond.
Investigators said they were called to Holmes Regional
Medical Center, where the couple had taken the baby after it suffered a
broken leg.

Police said doctors found bruises and bite
marks on the child during an examination. The baby was taken to Arnold
Palmer Children's Hospital for further treatment and tests.

"The father originally said he heard a popping sound when he was changing the
baby's diaper," Satellite Beach Police Department Cmdr. Brad Hodge
said. "Further tests at Arnold Palmer revealed the child had several
injuries in various stages of healing, including two broken legs and
four broken ribs, and he was underweight and malnourished."

Authorities said the parents couldn't offer an explanation for the child's injuries.

"Clearly, it takes significant force from physical abuse for these types of
injuries to occur and can't be explained away as a simple accident from
changing a diaper," Hodge said. "Since the child has been removed from
the parents, he has gained weight and made significant recovery progress."

This is a perfect example of why the law allowing parents to forfeit all
parental rights should not be limited to 7 days of birth. It would be
far better to allow parents to give up their children than to allow them
to abuse, maim, and in untold numbers, murder the unwanted baby or
child.

A hell of a way to avoid late night feedings and diaper changes.

I just had an interesting conversation with mama Torrie. She wants her name removed from this site, because it's HER, ya know.

After evading every single question I asked as to why I should remove her name, outright lying to me about numerous issues, and demonstrating a complete lack of remorse, much less concern for her child,

my patience reached the edge of the cliff and jumped.

I have no desire to shame or blame you, Torrie, (not that it would even be possible), but the fact is, you are still on probation, and in fact, you were in prison, and in fact your name is still in plenty of media outlets including mugshots.com. Now, let me break it down for you Torrie; No.

If it makes you feel better it was a no in the first 3 minutes when you failed to mention the star of the show, your baby. Even when I prompted you repeatedly, you evaded the issue. In fact,

I'm deeply concerned for your child. Our conversation was troubling on so many different levels. And then I saw this:


Cute smirk, cupcake. There's actually a term for that slight smile you have on your face as you are being booked for felony child abuse and neglect. Do I need to remind you that your baby had a broken leg, bruises and bite marks and was hospitalized for the injuries?

That smile is called "Duper's Delight." It is the smirk a sociopath displays when they feel they have gotten away with something, or conned someone. “Duping delight” for whatever act they have committed is the opposite of “shame” or “guilt” for that behavior.

Since you seem to lack any remorse or guilt, chances are you'll do it again. You just hit my radar, big time.

Remove your name? Not today, sweetheart. Now I'm ultra-curious as to why all of the sudden you want it removed....?

She still doesn't care about her poor baby but wants to remove her evil deed from the internet.

Do not ever remove her from here. She is selfish, and only cares about her protein shakes and boys. She is not a good mother at all and only acts like a "mother " when all eyes are on her. Shes yet again facing another count of child abuse on the same child in a different state. I hope justice is served. It's really seems unfair to the father in my opinion. She's disgusting and evil.

There had to be a reason she was so adamant about having her name removed and we are reasonable people, I was willing to hear her out...

however, I think she is the first CONVICTED FELONY CHILD ABUSER who has requested their name be removed. The request itself reeks of anti-social personality disorder. (Not diagnosing, just making an observation)

She blamed the father, 100%.

Of coarse she did, first admission of guilt, denial . However the father is currently trying to get the child, and the father already takes care of another child that isn't his. The child is doing just fine he's thriving with the paternal grandparents of the father, and the father maintaining a bond with the child. They get along just great ,and the child loves him

And also the father wasn't home the time of the accident he had just gotten off work. And showed proof of it.
