'Private Matter' lead to abrupt stop in jury selection

Excerpt:

By Brandon Hamilton and Drew Petrimoulx

Judge Belvin Perry has abruptly ended the jury selection process in the case against Casey Anthony. A shocker for a case with time running short and a trial set to begin on Monday.

After lead defense attorney Jose Baez was seen not eating lunch with his team in the cafeteria and missing in the courtroom after recess, Perry turned to Cheney Mason.

"Have you had a chance to speak to your client?" Perry asked.

Mason responded, "Yes, your honor."

"Then we are recessed until 8:30 a.m. Thursday," Perry said.

Speculation from Pinellas County is that Baez is sick or that the judge is having problems getting potential jurors to the courthouse.

Baez later told TruTV that the issue was a private matter and people should stop speculating.
