Yesterday was a weak day for the State in the murder trial for Casey Anthony. The day started out with the State bringing Gerard Bloise back to the stand. And it seems from this witness on, the questioning by the State didn’t hit the mark well when bringing out the major points each witness had to present before the jury.
For instance, let’s take the trash, garbage, refuse…the junk in Casey’s trunk. Jose Baez questioned Mr. Bloise about whether the garbage was wet before it was taking to the drying room. Mr. Bloise’s response was that yes, there was some moisture present. I do not believe Linda Drane-Burdick did a good job on this particular issue of redirect. It was never directly asked of Mr. Bloise if the “moisture” he referred to was on the outside of the trash bag, or on the inside of the trash bag. As we’ve seen in photographs of the trash bag before it was pulled from the dumpster, the outside of the trash bag was clearly “wet” looking. But this was after it had been thrown in a dumpster. The wet substance that appears on the outside of the trash bag may have (and actually appears it did) come from within the dumpster….not something that was on the trash bag prior to it being thrown in the dumpster.
