NITA KILLIAN - 17 yo - Butler/ Ft Wayne IN

Police in Butler are looking for a teenage girl who has been missing
for a week. Investigators and the girl's mother fear she could be with a
registered sex offender. Nita Killian, 17, has been missing
since October 6. Her mother Holly Cumings is trying to spread the word
to as many people as possible so she can have her daughter back.
“The more eyes looking, the better chance we have to bring her home,” Cumings said.

On
October 5, Killian was staying with her father in his Butler apartment.
She wanted to invite Bradley Magiera, 26, over. But her dad wouldn't
let her. The next morning, her father got a call from Killian.
“Thursday
morning he went to work and Nita called him at work and told him she
wasn't feeling well,” Cumings said. “She didn't want to go to school so
he said ok. And then she was gone.”
Magiera is a registered sex
offender. Butler police said U.S. Marshals are looking for him because
of a parole violation. He was convicted of Criminal Sexual Conduct, a
2nd Degree Assault.
Cumings said it's unlike her daughter to leave everything behind and disappear.
“I
don't know if it's an abduction but I know it would take a lot of talk
to get Nita to walk away from all of her friends and all of her family,”
said Cumings.
Authorities have received several leads, but all
have been dead ends. As the days go by, Cumings gets more fearful. The
mother hopes she’ll see her daughter again and wishes to give her this
message:
“I love her and I just want her back home safe. I just
want to know she's ok. I just want her to reach out that no matter what
has happened, we can get through it,” Cumings said.
Killian is 5’7” and about 160 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes and sometimes wears glasses.
Magiera is six feet tall with blue or green eyes, a pierced left ear, and a pierced tongue.

Butler, Ind. - Concern for Nita Killian, a 17-year-old from Butler, is growing. She hasn’t been seen or heard from in more than a week and she’s probably with someone who could harm her.

Police said based on reports from the teen’s family, she had been in some sort of relationship with 26-year-old Bradly Magiera, a registered sex offender. Police aren’t calling her disappearance an abduction, but aren’t ruling out that she was lured. Butler Police Chief James Nichols said especially with Magiera’s criminal past.

According to court documents, in 2007 Magiera pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 16 in Michigan. He was also pleaded guilty to fleeing and assaulting a police officer.
Nichols said he fears Magiera could be repeating a pattern.

“A lot of the sex offenders this type of behavior would be known as grooming and they would start out with just small tokens of gifts and attention, those kinds of things,” he explained. “They just start out really slow and get to a point where they would try to pressure the other person, a juvenile into having sexual contact of some sort.”
Nichols said time is of the essence in this case, but every day that goes by he hopes the right tip will come in.

“The longer that it goes on what we would hope is people would not lose interest and forget about the fact that the case is ongoing and still looking for information,” he said. “On the other hand the longer it goes the more likelihood of them making a mistake when they're on the run and us being able to apprehend them.”

Butler police have contacted the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in an attempt to help locate 17-year-old Nita Killian who disappeared on October 6. It's feared she may be with a convicted sex offender. Killian
is featured on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Chidren's
web site. It indicates Killian may travel to Kentucky.
Her
family and authorities believe she may be with Bradley Magiera, 26, who
is a registered sex offender. Butler police said U.S. Marshals are

2nd Degree Criminal Sexual Assault in Michigan in 2007 for an incident
involving a girl between the age of 13 and 16.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for the safe return of 17-year-old Nita Killian, who police say is likely in the company of a dangerous sex
offender.
Butler Police have been looking into the disappearance of Killian from her father's apartment on Thursday, October 6th.
Killian's father allegedly refused to let his daughter see
26-year-old Bradley Magiera the night before. The next day, Oct. 6th,
the Eastside High School junior called her father at work to let him
know that she was ill and would not be going to school that day.
However, when he arrived home, Killian was gone. Her parents believe she
is likely with Magiera and could be in extreme danger.

Butler Police Chief James
Nichols says Magiera stole a vehicle on October 6th as well, but OnStar
was able to disable it. No one was with the vehicle when authorities
arrived.

Nichols says there have
been a few leads in the case that indicate the two may have been camping
out in Butler, but planning to head to Kentucky.

The Center for Missing and Exploited Children has also gotten involved, distributing flyers across Indiana and Kentucky.

Magiera is a registered
sex offender. In Michigan in 2007, he was convicted of second degree
sexual assault against a child under the age of 16. He is also wanted by
U.S. Marshals for violating his house arrest.

Magiera could face contributing to the delinquency of a minor charges and more.

Nita Killian is 5'6"
tall, 160 lbs., and has brown hair and brown eyes. She has a birthmark
on the back of her neck and sometimes wears glasses.

Bradley Magiera is 6' tall, 180 lbs., has green eyes, pierced ears, and a pierced tongue.

BUTLER, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- Police officials tell
Indiana's NewsCenter that 17 year old Nita Killian has been found alive
in Florence, Kentucky safe and unharmed.

The sex offender she was with, 26 year old Bradley Magiera, is in police custody awaiting extradition to Michigan.


Numerous law agencies worked together to find Killian.

Her family is very happy to hear she is safe and sound and are eagerly awaiting her return.
