JORDAN VINCENT MARINO - 2 yo/ Accused: Gregory Amador - El Mirage/ Phoenix AZ
A 2-year-old El Mirage boy has died from
injuries he sustained, and the charges against the live-in boyfriend of
his mother have been upgraded to first degree murder.
Gregory Kyle Amador, 20, was booked into jail Thursday, on two counts of
suspected child abuse after the boy was taken to Boswell Hospital and
then Phoenix Children's Hospital with severe injuries, according to
Maricopa County Superior Court records.
El Mirage police say Amador called authorities about 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 13
to say his son was unresponsive. An investigation revealed Amador is
not the biological father but had been living with the boy's mother,
Cynthia Dole, for about a year.
(Later reports indicate the victim's mother's name is Deymar Bravo)
El Mirage police say the boy died at the hospital over the weekend.
He is not being identified at this time.
Amador claimed the child fell from a high chair but later admitted to having
spanked the child and dropping him while lifting him from the high chair, police said.
Police said Amador claimed he was too scared to call police and that the child had been
unresponsive for a time before authorities were alerted.
Amador has an Oct. 24 preliminary hearing.

Poster's Note: After further research I did find this story which seems to corroborate what stinab81 posted. Based on this I will change the headline to properly identify the victim.
Peoria, AZ - As if losing her 2-year-old son wasn't enough, Deymar
Bravo finds herself struggling to come up with the money to pay for his
funeral.
"It's hard to have to deal with this," said Bravo. "No one would ever think they'd have to bury their kid before them."
Earlier this month, Bravo left 2-year-old Jorden in the care of her boyfriend, Greg Amador.
Police say instead of caring for the boy, Amador physically abused him.
"He
had a blood clot on his head because of a skull fracture," Bravo said.
"It was putting so much pressure on his brain, he was almost instantly
brain dead."
Jorden hung on a little while longer but eventually succumbed to his injuries.
After his death, police charged Amador with murder.
"He deserves what he gets," Bravo said.
Therein lies another problem, Bravo is pregnant and Amador is the father.
"I trusted him and never would have guessed that would have happened," said Bravo.
But it did happen and Bravo's left to deal with it without her son and with the father of her unborn child in jail.
"It's the worst feeling in the world," said Bravo.

This is so sad. What an adorable little boy. I hope justice is served and the killer goes to jail for a long time.

Trial begins for man accused of El Mirage child murder
Kristen N. Carver, The Republic | azcentral.com 4:51 p.m. MST October 30, 2014
Trial began Thursday for an El Mirage resident charged with beating and murdering his girlfriend's 2-year-old son more than two years ago, but an attorney representing Gregory Amador-Creane encouraged jurors to keep an open mind throughout the trial where evidence and a constantly changing story will both work against his client.
Paramedics and police officers arrived at the home near Thompson Ranch Road and Acapulco Lane at about 10:30 a.m. in October 2011 where they found 29-month-old Jordan Vincent Marino unresponsive after Creane called saying the boy's eyes were rolling back in his head.
But it didn't take long for investigators to notice the large bruise developing on Jordan's forehead and buttocks, according to prosecutors.
Creane, 23, initially denied hitting Jordan, later said he dropped the toddler as he lifted him out of a high chair and eventually admitted spanking the boy for not listening to him.
Paramedics said Creane was profusely sweating when they arrived and denied when asked if Jordan fell or hit his head.
Creane's attorney, Adam Feldman, did not address those changing story lines when he addressed the jurors for the first time Thursday in front of Maricopa County Superior Court Judge M. Scott McCoy. Instead, Feldman spoke to the panel in a near-whisper and focused their attention on the bond Creane felt with his girlfriend's son.
"Greg loved Jordan like a son," Feldman said.
But it was Jordan's mother, Deymar Bravo, who was deprived of the boy's love after Creane murdered him, said Deputy County Attorney Lori Eidemanis.
Jordan's mother said neither she nor Creane were employed, but he usually took care of Jordan while she was in class. She was 3 weeks pregnant at the time with Creane's child, the mother added.
Eidemanis said Jordan's mother claimed her son was happy, playful, and happy on the last day she saw him alive.
His last words, spoken on Oct. 14, 2011, were meant for his mother, Eidemanis told the jurors: "I love you, Mom."
According to Eidemanis, Jordan's eyes tell a lot about child abuse.
Eidemanis said Jordan had a retinal hemorrhage in his left eye which was consistent with a 20-to-30 mph impact or a two-to-three story fall.
Retinal hemorrhages have been recognized as a key indicator of abusive head injury for more than 30 years in children younger than 5 years, according to Official Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Creane's trial continues next week in Maricopa County Superior Court.
