Ferguson, Mo. - Police are looking for Cleo Jones, 73, who believed he must search for missing 11-month-old Lisa Irwin because he was confused, according to his family.
KMOV reports that Jones was convinced Baby Lisa is his granddaughter, despite his daughter reassuring him that he is not the child's grandfather and has no relation to the missing Kansas City girl.
“It has been Wednesday since he has had his medication,” his niece Karen Spencer told the local news outlet. “He has Alzheimer's, he is diabetic and he also has high blood pressure. So, time is definitely of the essence.”
Jones was last seen leaving his home at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night and hasn't been heard from since.

Missing Ferguson man found drowned in the Mississippi River
A Ferguson man with Alzheimer's disease was found dead in the Mississippi River in Randolph County in Illinois on Saturday.
Cleo Jones, 73, of the 1100 block of Ford Drive, was last seen on Oct. 19 at 10:30 p.m., according to police. He was driving a black 2001 GMC Sierra truck.
Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson said Jones was found in the river about noon Saturday and that he had apparently been there for a while. His vehicle was found about 1.5 miles south of the Ste. Genevieve-Modoc Ferry, on the Illinois side of the river.
"There was nothing suspicious or any signs that there was a struggle around the vehicle," Jackson said. "It's tragic."
Jackson said Jones may have been walking along the levee and slipped into the river.
In addition to Alzheimer's, Jones suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure, police said.
"It only takes a moment for someone to wander away," said Cheryl Wingbermuehle, family services director at the Alzheimer's Association. "This is just as true in your home as it is at the mall or grocery store. No one can be watched every second. Even the most diligent caregiver has to sleep, bathe or talk on the phone."
As the disease progresses, those inflicted will increasingly lose their ability to make good judgments, she said. "Even if you've explained to your family member that he should not go out alone, it's unlikely he'll remember he has been told not to go out alone."
