LOGANVILLE, Ga. -- The Walton County
Sheriff's Office has not said what exactly killed the child but they do
say charges against Louis David Jones and Jami Lea Jones have been
upgraded from aggravated battery and child cruelty to murder.According
to deputies, paramedics were called out to the Jones' Loganville home
on Christmas Eve about the 6-year-old boy. The boy was rushed to a
hospital, where he died Monday."Apparently they saw something that just didn't look right to them,"
Chief Deputy Bruce Wright said.After paramedics asked deputies to look into the case,
Louis and Jami Jones were arrested."Based
on the evidence that was obtained through a search warrant the night
this occurred, interviews with the parents and information the doctors
have given us, there is enough evidence to proceed with this charge,"
Wright said.DFCS workers were called in to care for the couple's other children.
Louis and Jami Jones have a court appearance Wednesday.

LOGANVILLE, Ga. (AP) - A Loganville couple has been charged with murder in the death of their 6-year-old adopted son.

'The Atlanta Journal-Constitution' reports Tuesday that 39-year-old Louis David Jones and 36-year-old Jami Lea Jones are being held in the Walton County Jail without bond.

Their son died Monday, four days after being rushed to the hospital following a 911 call on Christmas Eve.

Walton County Sheriff's Office chief deputy Bruce Wright said police received a call about an "unresponsive" child. He said paramedics "suspected some type of foul play" and notified authorities.

Wright said there was evidence of "physical injuries" but did not elaborate.

A Walton County couple has been charged with murder following the recent death of their 6-year-old adopted son.

Jami Lea Jones, 36, and Louis David Jones, 39, have been denied bond and remain in the Walton County Jail on charges of aggravated battery, cruelty to children and murder.

On Christmas Eve, emergency medical personnel were called to the home about 6 p.m. following reports of an unresponsive child. Shortly after EMS personnel arrived, a request was made for Walton County Sheriff’s Office investigators on the scene.

“Based on evidence and the physical appearance of the child, foul play was suspected,” WCSO Chief Deputy Bruce Wright said.

The child was transported to Walton Regional Medical Center where, at some point, it was determined the child needed to be transported to Egleston Children’s Hospital, according to reports. The child was airlifted to the Atlanta hospital in critical condition and died late Monday morning.

WCSO detectives interviewed both parents and executed a search warrant on the home and, according to Wright, based on the evidence at the scene and interviews with the parents, they were arrested about 10 p.m. the night of the incident.

MONROE — Jury selection will begin Monday in the trial against two Loganville parents facing charges in the 2009 death of their 6-year-old adopted son.

Jami Lea Jones, 43, and Louis David Jones, 43, are both charged with malice murder, felony murder, cruelty to children in the second degree and two counts of cruelty to children in the first degree. Both have been out on bond as the case has made its way through the court system and were present during a final motions and status hearing Thursday.

MONROE — A jury deliberated for more than four hours before reaching a guilty verdict in the 2009 death of a 6-year-old boy.

The adopted parents of Colin Jones — Jami Lea Jones, 43, and Louis David Jones, 43 — were both sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of malice murder.
