HAYDEN JONES - 2 yo - Shepherdsville KY
A Shepherdsville mother’s boyfriend was arrested Tuesday for allegedly assaulting
and abusing her 2-year-old son.Phillip Wolfe, 27, was arrested by Bullitt County police
and is being held at the Bullitt County Detention Center.
Hayden Jones, the toddler, had to undergo ear surgery and was treated for
multiple other injuries at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville,
family members said.
Courtney McConnell, 25, who lives in a mobile home park off West Blue Lick Road,
was arrested Friday for criminal abuse and pleaded not guilty to the
charge when she was arraigned Monday.
She was ordered to have no contact with Hayden and she remains in the
Bullitt County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond, according to court records.
Detective Scotty McGaha, who is investigating the case for the Bullitt County
Sheriff’s office, said police responded to a tip from Child Protection
Services that the boy had been abused.
McGaha said Hayden “had injuries from the top of his head all the way down to
his feet,” including bite marks on his genitals and buttocks.
Hayden has been placed in the custody of family members.

SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. -- Shepherdsville deputies arrested the boyfriend of a woman accused of child abuse Tuesday.Detective
Scotty McGaha said a family friend who watched television reports about
the abuse felt compelled to break his silence about the abuse he said
he witnessed in the family. His accounts, plus evidence from another
juvenile in the family led to the second arrest.
"This morning, shortly after 11 a.m., a second arrest was made on the
abuse of the 2-year-old child from last week on the second," said
McGaha. The man taken into custody, 27-year-old Phillip Wolfe, was charged with the most serious degree of criminal abuse and assault. His
girlfriend, 25-year-old Courtney McConnell, is the child's mother. She
has already been charged with criminal abuse. Police arrested her at
Kosair Children's Hospital where the child was admitted last week.Wolfe and McConnell are both accused of causing bruises and abrasions on 2-year-old Hayden Jones' body.Investigators said the boy had an ear infection so severe it required immediate surgery.According to police, when they arrested McConnell, they also suspected Wolfe but needed more evidence."We had other people who came forward with knowledge of things that took place in that home over a period of time," said McGaha.According
to McGaha, one of those people was a family friend who witnessed the
alleged abuse, but kept silent for months. When he saw local news
broadcasts of Hayden's injuries, he tearfully went to police.
"There was another family member that was very young and we took her to
Children's First, that does an excellent job in forensic interviews. We
did a forensic interview with her this morning, and not to give too much
detail, we gained information through the forensic interview. We
believe that the two people involved are now in custody and off the
streets," said McGaha.Investigators said the child was most
likely abused at two different locations, his mother's home and at her
boyfriend's home, both in Shepherdsville.Hayden has since been released from the hospital and is still recovering from his injuries.

OMG...that poor baby. I hope he heals and they are able to place him in a loving home that will treat him properly.
