"Newborn John Doe" - 3 Months/ Accused: Javier Aguilar - Lakeland/ Winter Haven FL
POLK COUNTY --
Polk County Sheriff's detectives have arrested a 22-year-old man on a Polk County warrant for aggravated child abuse.
According to the affidavit, Javier Leonidas Aguilar abused a 3-month-old baby who was left in his care in September.
The baby suffered a skull fracture, and multiple broken
bones, including all of his ribs, his clavicle, and the tibia and his
femur in his left leg.
The baby’s mother took him to a local hospital when the baby
began having seizures - the baby was then airlifted to Arnold Palmer
Children’s Hospital, where an examination and tests revealed the
injuries, consistent with abuse.
Aguilar was the baby's only caregiver while the baby's mother was at work, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies say the baby will possibly suffer long-term
consequences from the abuse, including seizures and possible blindness
and/or brain damage.
Aguilar was taken into custody Wednesday in Orlando and will be booked into the Orange County Jail.
He will be extradited to Polk County after a first appearance hearing in Orange County at a later date.
