"Toddler Jane Doe" - 2 yo/ Accused: Michael Roseveare - Selma OR
Josephine County Sheriff's deputies arrested a
man Thursday in Selma for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend's
2-year-old daughter and breaking her femur Feb. 3.
Michael Roseveare, 20, was arrested and lodged in the Josephine County Jail on
first- and third-degree assault charges. He is held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
The sheriff's office first learned of the
child's injuries when she was admitted to Three Rivers Community
Hospital Feb. 4. The medical team there treated the girl for the broken
femur and several bruises "that were suspected to be the results of
child abuse the day prior," a news release said.
Police said they learned through interviews that Roseveare dated the victim's
mother and was allowed to discipline her children. The mother discovered
the child's injuries and took her to the hospital following the assault.
Roseveare was later apprehended during a traffic stop off the 500 block of Lakeshore Drive in Selma.
The girl and her siblings, ages 1 and 3, have been placed in foster care
under the Oregon Department of Human Services. The case is still under
investigation, but police said they believe methamphetamine use and addiction contributed.
Anyone with additional
information about the case is encouraged to call the Sheriff's Major
Crimes Unit confidential tip line at 541-474-5160.
